At this point in time, I'm still a student during my first year at this college, but I believe I am on the verge of being kicked out.
If I'm being honest, I'd also say one star is being generous as I've only been at this college for about 3 months and 5 days on the dot.

Firstly, security on this campus is absolutely appalling, every day that I have attended this college, I've only ever seen one security guard every day, possibly two but one is only ever there in the mornings managing the car park, and then he leaves when the busy morning rush is over. The other security guard when they're present only stands in the lobby, nowhere near the actual busier areas on site in the college where fights are bound to break out.

Additionally, I'd like to say that their general staffing ESPECIALLY for the English and maths departments are AWFUL. An English teacher I had last term was rude and CONSTANTLY targeted me when something went wrong in his classroom even if I was being quiet, not to mention the few English teachers I've had for resists can't even spell basic words properly in their writing when teaching us, this hasn't just been a one time thing either. If you're going to make students do their resits, at least hire staff that can teach the subject properly.
With the maths teacher I have (and have had since the start of the college year) I cannot even begin to stress how much my maths grades have gone completely and utterly in the bin since she became my teacher. There's a very heavy accent barrier to the point I cant understand her at all when she speaks due to how thick her accent is, not to mention she doesn't give us textbooks, papers, or sheets to work on for the lessons, never informed us about the homework she'd apparently been setting for MONTHS since we started college, and similar to the english teachers here, cannot teach the subject, she was messing up simple equations MULTIPLE TIMES on one question and had to keep correcting herself, keep in mind that this is yet another teacher for resists teaching people at levels 2-3.
Not to mention that back in September, we've had the head of the maths department come into our lesson and she had us write about any issues we've had with the teacher, meaning they've had a lot of issues with this teacher as I asked around and they had done this with no other teacher. The teacher constantly mocks and degrades her students as if we're her friends and not her students, she constantly does this to me to the point where I cannot even talk to her without feeling uncomfortable or angry.

The standards they ask you to uphold here are also a joke and they have no regards for your mental health here, I had a friend who was battling homelessness whilst in a severe depression episode and they could hardly show up to college as they were looking for a place to stay, they were almost kicked out of the college despite the college knowing about these difficult circumstances. The attendance system is also an absolute joke, they expect 98% attendance all the time, that 2% is from missing one lesson, and depending on if you miss a whole day it can drop a whole 20% sometimes. They throw so much work at you to the point it's draining and overwhelming, and give you hardly any time to reach the deadlines as they let it pile and pile on you.

Additionally, teachers constantly go missing or just drop out of teaching us without warning! so we're left halfway through a topic with absolutely no idea of what to do next as teachers keep coming and going.
I've also had countless issues with the catering team here, such as overcharging and refusing to give me my dues back. The kitchen here is also extremely understaffed as well.

I could keep going on and on with this review but I honestly would just not recommend coming here, ESPECIALLY if you're a person with ADHD or autism planning on enrolling into a main course outside of the SEND department, you will not get the support you need.

DO NOT COME TO NEW CITY COLLEGE ARDLEIGH GREEN IF YOU DONT WANT TO END UP IN DEPRESSION and Anxiety!!!!!!! horrible school, very rude students and teachers. I only just enrolled in last week as a year 12 and I would say I was very uncomfortable with the way people were giving me stares like there was something wrong with me and knowing that I went to a college that I don't know anyone there. today I finished earlier so I decided to go and try the Starbucks frappe, so l asked for a caramel frappe as I have been a Starbucks buyer for years so I know the difference, I asked the woman for a caramel frappe and it seemed like she understood but she gave me a whole different thing so I said this isn't what I asked for, she gave me a macchiato instead of a blended caramel frappe. She started shouting at me in front of everyone and I told her dont shout at me and I told her that I don't want the drink, This needs to be looked into if these are the kind of people you employ in this college. It's disgusting and ruining your reputation as a college i have only been here for a week and im already hating it. People are very rude. And the students have no manners either, never coming back here again and I would never recommend this rubbish college to anyone,Im about to leave. AND WHY ARE STUDENTS SMELLING OF WEED,SAVE YOURSELVES FROM COMING HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

one star is out of generosity to be honest. this college is appalling. went there for 8 months and kicked me out in the last 3 weeks and i cant even go to another college to finish my course. the teachers here are disgraceful. even the security.. the college has a whole security system because of how bad the college is and the people patrolling it are so rude. the teachers are so unprofessional. will give you a paper and your “taught” to do the work on your own. they have teachers who leave in the middle of the year without any explanation. i studied beauty and the manager of the course is honestly the worse, she’ll ruin your mental health just so she could feel empowered. they care about your attendance more than your wellbeing, just because they get funded for attendance. i was targeted throughout the whole year by teachers in this college for the most tiniest things and have genuinely made me want to drop out so bad. i wish i read the reviews before applying to this place and if i read them a year ago i would definitely not applied here.

Honestly I am dissapointed in there system for resit classes especially english. They don't even teach you proper things that are needed and required for English gcse resit just some random activities about modern society as if its history or make you get to do wordsearches everytime when lesson starts.

I studied Health & Social care Level 3 at Ardleigh green college from 2022-2023 and what I have to say about this college is honestly appalling.

I usually don’t write reviews but this one is deserved - honestly if I could give it 0 stars I would but I have not got that option.

The students there are not the issue, it’s as you would expect in a college environment with a range of ages, as they do provide education for 14-16, 16-18 and adults (19+).

The layout of the college is okay, and offers a range of courses which, myself cannot comment on as I did not study these courses.

However, as for the Health & Social care / Childcare department, I must say it is awful. There is a lack of communication, coordination and funding for this department. I was only there for a year, due to how bad the college is, but my peers have since commented that the college has become worse.

Teachers - hardly know them. They have/will leave midway into the year with little to no explanation leaving students in confusion and disbelief as they scramble to understand the unit the teacher started (and never finished) teaching. Each teacher teaches a certain unit, so if one leaves you no longer have a teacher for that unit, forcing other teachers to cover a unit they are not qualified in and having to split priorities between units.

We were taught to complete the assignments incorrectly and then mid-year the teachers tried to change how we complete these assignments (whilst we were already stressed as we were given 2 weeks to complete an assignment which usually takes 4-6 weeks to complete). This teacher then refused to understand our frustration on changing the style which we complete the assignments, until I began to cry (literally)and beg him to explain it how we had been taught.

Students regularly go home crying, stressing and having mental breakdowns all over these assignments and workload which is forced upon students. This is truly abnormal.

I am an A-B grade student which had big dreams of going to university and per-sue a career in criminology or social working. However due to this college providing more stress than needed, little to no support, and making my mental health worse I decided to get an apprenticeship in an unrelated field which I had not previously considered, all due to this college and this course.

This is not right, young adults do not deserve to be treated like children. Please, if this has helped you decide that you do not want to go to this college, then that will make my day to know another young adult is not subject to this college’s manipulative, stressful, depressing lies which it feeds to newcomers.

I would suggest looking at other local colleges such as NCC havering sixth form or Barking and Dagenham college - just not this one!

It is a college with many diverse faculties, good teachers. It's a place where you can really progress. The only minus would be their canteen menu. I don't like anything they have on the menu. Everything else is great.
