Before I started tutoring with Tim, I was struggling to pay attention to and follow my biology A-Level lessons. However, after doing a quite a few lessons with Tim he helped me to put together all of the things I had learnt, and taught me things that I had not taken away from lessons, and due to this I was a lot more confident about the exams. Without a doubt, my grades would be completely different if I had not gone to Tim!

We approached Tim, after he was recommended to us. Our daughter was really struggling with her A Level Biology course. She had become really despondent and was beginning to hate the subject and was dreading the final exams.

Tim was a perfect mix of professional, kind and encouraging of our daughter. He explained course material in a way that she completely understood and took care to ensure that all the time, he was quietly building her self-confidence.

After just a few sessions, our daughter started to feel very differently about biology – she genuinely started to enjoy the subject again. The strategies that Tim used to explain the concepts and how best to remember them really worked for our daughter – Tim has a very intuitive way of working out what works for the individual.

We are so grateful to Tim for his kindness to our daughter and for his expertise and knowledge of the subject.

Tim taught me for 5 months and throughout that time my confidence in biology improved greatly. I had left too much content to learn with not enough time leaving me to be very overwhelmed. Tim was very helpful in making an action plan straight away, really listening to my worries and concerns for the subject. He made a plan that led up to my exams, for topics he would cover and easier ones I could go over. This was very helpful as I previously struggled to stay on track with revision.

One of Tim’s many strengths is how he got to know me personally and tailored the teaching style for me and the way I learn. He would often use creative ways to teach me difficult content, which really worked for me and helped me visualise topics, which really particularly helped for someone as dyslexic as me. He even made the sessions enjoyable, with me looking forward to each one. I would often finish many sessions with paper models we had made or drawing on my white board, allowing me to consolidate content post lesson.

I really couldn’t have done it without him, he gave me so much confidence in myself that I was good at biology after all.

Had the pleasure of being taught by Tim for a-level biology. When I started college my predicted grade was a D and, thanks to Tim, my predicted grade went up to an A* and I am now studying medicine at the University of Aberdeen- which is 1st in the UK for medicine in The Guardian 2024 University rankings. Tim’s teaching was really engaging, easy to follow and concise and I learnt so much from him (hence the drastic increase in grades!). Tim is not only a great teacher, but also a genuinely lovely guy who I got along with incredibly well and who was only happy to help with anything I needed- whether it was in lessons or out of lessons. Biology is a really challenging a-level but, when taught by Tim, he just makes it seem so easy and I would recommend him to ANYONE.

Tim is an excellent teacher and I can't recommend him enough. I was lucky enough to be taught by Tim when I was doing my A Levels about 16 years ago and I can honestly say he is the best teacher I have ever had. I have always struggled to retain information and stay focused for more than 5 minutes, but Tim always made learning fun and is such a gifted teacher. In class, if you didn't understand something, he would make it his mission to find a different way to explain it to suit your needs and learning style. He is immensely knowledgeable, friendly, down to earth and just a great person. Everything you could wish for from a teacher and more.

Tim taught my son A level Geology. He imparted a real enthusiasm for the subject, along with all of the knowledge and skills necessary for success. My son achieved an A in his A level and is now studying Geology at Exeter University, along with several other students who were taught by Tim at college. I can highly recommend Tim as an engaging, effective teacher.

Tim was not only a fantastic teacher but became a very good friend. It was Tim that encouraged me to apply for university and he supported my application by making time outside of his teaching hours a truly dedicated person. I hold Tim as one of the nicest people I have had the fortune to meet and he has helped me through some tougher times in life. He inspired in his class and also in life a truly great person. Education was never strong point of mine but Tim made it enjoyable and easy to understand.

I would recommend Tim to anyone struggling with their Biology A Level and feeling like it’s all too much! Tim is an excellent teacher and tutor, and helped me wrap my head around the ridiculous amount of knowledge and understanding required to gain a Biology A Level, whilst making it actually enjoyable to learn… I was getting D’s and E’s in mock exams, and Tim helped me to get my required biology A Level Grade for uni. Tim is an absolutely wonderful teacher.
I found the jump from GCSE to A-level incredibly challenging, and had set some very lofty goals for my grades that initially felt unreachable!
Tim was there for me with an open office door and a packet of biscuits whenever I needed help. He never made me feel bad for a silly question, (of which there were many!) and had endless patience to go over tricky subjects however many times it took to stick.

When I went to him teary thinking I wasn't cut out for it, he helped me turn things around and leave with a plan. He believed in me, and encouraged me through the whole process.

Thanks to Tim I got the grades, and three degrees later work in my dream job as a sonographer in the NHS. I don't think I'd be where I am today if it wasn't for Tim, and I'd recommend him without hesitation.
