What a great combination of gardens and art. Indoor art galleries and outdoor installations. Beautiful grounds with informative plaques about the history of the property and the gardens. Nice little gift shops and cafe. Plenty of parking and toilets. Great places for families with young children (lots of activities indoors and out). Well worth the visit Not your standard historic house with old furniture and family paintings.

The car park is surrounded by trees so shade can be found. The information centre / ticket office is welcoming, and has toilets. There's a walk up to the house past an old ice house which is worth poking your head in. There are also sculptures and great views to enjoy. I went when there was a print fair which was definitely worth going to. Lots of different ways of printed art with many talented artists. The Louise Bourgeois exhibition was fascinating. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Lunch was delicious and the surroundings lovely. Unfortunately the chair was damaged, but when I reported this it was replaced quickly. When they events it is definitely worth going.

This is one of many visits to the warm and welcoming museum and gallery. Paid for a year's membership last March and took advantage of the corresponding free entry. Spring, summer, autumn and winter, this place never fails to amaz.
Watch fruit growing in the nursery beds and walked round the lake in summer. Wrapped up warm in the first week of January to see ice on the lake one side of the bridge and the more sheltered side still lapping against the shore.

Lovely grounds. Difficult to appreciate the house as walls were hidden by the art displays. Most artwork was unfortunately not to our taste. Plenty of outdoor activities for children. Plenty of walking paths. There’s also a public footpath that meanders close by. Lovely coffee shop and excellent service

Ticked quite a few boxes for us. Lots of open spaces to stroll. Gallery is an eclectic mix of styles - traditional, modern, interesting. Particularly enjoyed the oriental artefacts gallery and the folk art. Guides in the various areas were welcoming and informative.

Gorgeous exhibition space - set in splendid natural grounds. The exhibitions are frequently extraordinary and the gallery volunteers are incredibly enthusiastic.
I had a smashing time at the Louise Bourgeois exhibition today with fascinating tour with Liz (I sketched this little cartoon to remember one of the quotes shared on this tour).

The food and drink have dramatically improved too over the past year - today I had a delicious Chicken Caesar Salad (oooh mustardy dressing) and tremendous decaf flat white (usually hard to do with decaffeinated). Hats off all!

Attended a thought provoking exhibition about the spirit within, refreshing change from modern obsession with outward appearances... it was the last day. Several
Other interesting exhibitions, including one on folk art. Fascinated that there is a small women's library, but sadly only a couple of books in there, and tucked away out of sight.. hopefully it will have background information and more of interest inside for a future visit. Beautiful grounds.

Elegant Georgian Palladian house with the best exhibition of art I have ever seen. The grounds are home to sculptures and were landscaped by Capability Brown.
