What a super gallery with lovely gardens and free! Well worth a visit. Try the Woodhouse Arms across the road for food and drink. Both venues 5*

Great gallery and always free to go in and take a look around. They have various exhibitions throughout the year with some very different artists and there is always an open art competition, which anyone can enter, at the end of the season. Caretakers are very helpful. It has a closed season from December to March so remember that when you visit!

Built as Read's grammar school, the building is now one third public library and two thirds art gallery. It has a busy season, through three quarters of the year, showing the works of visiting and local artists. It gets exhibitors who are never seen at the municipal arts centres of Grantham and Stamford, and is always worth a visit - if only to gaze out of the windows at the countryside around.
