This school has not been the same since Mr. Parker left. I would not recommend at all. The activities they offer on their website, they do not have in real life. There is no sports teams and the gym teacher quit a couple of weeks ago. Children are left in classrooms unattended and the administration doesn't seem to have a hold on what is really going on in the school. They violate students by sharing private information with random parents and then allow those parents to lecture students about their personal life with that shared information. This school IS NOT an emotionally safe place for a student. It was once a great institution, now, not so much.

I was there in the fiscal school year of 2021-2022. I observed the principal doing above and beyond her call of duty including giving support to all students. She informs parents accurately in what the school provides then it's the parents decision to continue with the application. The staff also works with the children's best interest in mind.

Oakdale has been HOME to me for 20+ years! I was one of the original students when OCA first started in 92. My mother and grandmother enrolled me in Pre-K in '96. I remained a student until the 6th grade. Later on, I became Oakdale's piano instructor. Now, in 3 weeks I'll be getting married at Oakdale Covenant Church!

21 years since I've been introduced to Oakdale and I've seen teachers and principals come and go. From an unbiased standpoint, Oakdale is a school with high expectations of the students and teachers work vigorously with every student to ensure excellence. Yes, Oakdale has flaws like every other schools but the good of Oakdale typically outweighs the bad. Oakdale teaches children to live a Christian life outside of school and church. It also gets the students involved in social activism like a walking protest about gun violence.

For 21 years, I can honestly say that Oakdale is a great school for your child! 4 stars because Oakdale still has so much more potential that it has not reached yet!

This school is awesome. It is the most economical Christian school in all of Chicago. The teachers have very high expectations of the kids, and the school at large focus on Wholistic learning. Your student will glean the confidence to live as a Christian among their peers as well as become more of a vibrant leader in their respective churches because of the work that Oakdale is doing. The school is not without its flaws...particularly in some organizational issues... BUt I can say as a parent that has been involved with Oakdale for 4 going on 5 years. They work hard each year at getting better. The teachers are very creative, very Christian, and very competent. I love the teachers at Oakdale. Also, Principal Parker and Assistant Principal Woods are very forward thinkers, and are constantly seeking opportunities to utilize 21st century learning tactics. One of the things that impressed me, is their efforts to gravitate towards holographic technology for their science labs. If, I remember correctly, they have secured a contract, with a distributor and will be implementing those learning tools in the 2017 school year.

Oakdale is a gift to the Kingdom of God, particularly to those parents who are tired of allowing their kids to become casualties of some of the failed public school systems in Chicago; whether that is the academic failures or some of the social failures that comes in the form of bullying and socio-psychological problems.

I love Oakdale. I have a kid who will be entering pre-K and another one that will be entering the 2nd grade, and I am already trying to find ways to aid in Oakdale's effort to expand from 8th grade to High School.

GOD BLESS OAKDALE

Sincerely,

Pastor Tyran T. Laws

I went to Oakdale from the ages of 3-12. I greatly appreciate the way they structured my mind and focus for school. As a young women I am grateful that my mom spent the extra $$$ on my education because it was well worth it. Oakdale was a great school and huge part of why I am the woman I am today.

The school’s principal lacks empathy for students that require SEL services. Instead of hiring someone for these services she humiliates students and disrespects parents. There is no compassion shown and she discredits the concerns of parents if they question her “years of experience”. This is not an emotional safe place to send your child
