I visited the university on the open day on Saturday 23/11/2024. I really liked the university, especially the new engineering building (Building 15). The staff’s treatment of us was nice. I also thank all the volunteer students for leading and helping the visitors.

A drive at 2pm stepping inside the filthy rich greenery campus even at the age of 45 gave goosebumps to me not as a student but as a representative for University of Hertfordshire by sending numerous students to study all these 22 years!! 🟠🔴⚪️

The campus is absolutely an envy to the eyes! Aesthetically designed and maintained campus with all facilities an ideal campus should have!

Honestly, some of the best years of my life were spend studying here. Before I chose to attend this university, I’d heard some negative comments (around my school etc) about this uni compared to others. In my experience actually studying here, they were totally false. This is a modern, innovative and research-focused university with great facilities and a friendly atmosphere. I liked pretty much all of my teaching staff, they were usually passionate about their subject and willing to help you with whatever you needed. Sometimes, the books we were studying from had even been written by our lecturer. For the most part they made learning engaging and fun. It was easy to strike up a professional relationship with and get known/recognised by your lecturer too.

The 2 main campuses were nice and modern with a large library (learning resource centre/LRC) on each campus, with a large selection of books, computers, printing facilities, private study rooms, a modern cafe/study area, and more, to help you with whatever you needed for your work. Free shuttle bus (and uni discount for general bus travel) or 15 min walk between the two campuses.

I had fun joining in with various uni societies - seemed to be something for everyone, and while not into sports myself there seemed to be plenty of sports opportunities (plus 2 gyms, which I liked to made use of). I personally stayed in uni accommodation (on both campuses) and was generally impressed with the quality, particularly College Lane studio rooms. At this uni you can stay in campus accommodation after first year with no issues, there seem to be plenty of rooms available if you want one.

As for local amenities there are a range of supermarkets/shops within walking distance, plus a bus service. They have recently remodelled the Forum on-campus nightclub and I had some good nights out there during my uni days. Not a huge amount else to do in Hatfield, but it’s near enough to London and other places in Hertfordshire (St Albans etc) if you really want to go somewhere else.

Overall, this is a much better university that it may seem based just on uni rankings etc, and I had a great time here for various different reasons. Obviously depends on your course, how near you are to the uni, what you’re looking for etc (I did BSc Maths & MSc Psychology, plus it was my local uni) but if you’re considering this uni, I would definitely recommend it. 🙂

University is good, but here within among international students you may feel racist, many Muslim community based students or Hindi speaking students are more in number and they don't help others they help their own community neighbors only. North indians are ruling the international students batches. Better only choose this university when you have friends here
