What can we say. Me and my family came here whilst on holiday. We should have camped!! This is a jewel. Neil's dedication to this shop and mission is obvious. We all found many books we bought and could have bought more. I sincerely hope that shops like these that are a dying breed have a revival. No more corporate bookshops and more Carnforth books!!

I came here today with my parents - my Dad wanted to browse their wonderful selection of military history, and came away with a fantastic set of Folio Society Napoleon's Campaigns. I loved looking at the craft and cookery, and the natural world and local history were also great. The best bit, however, was how lovely and kind the staff were to my nearly 80 year old mother who could not manage the stairs, bringing a chair down for her and generally making her feel welcome and comfortable and chatting away to her. So many bookshops have horrible staff, but not this one! They also were very welcoming to my dog. Thank you very much for a lovely visit!

Lovely shop full of all sorts of lovely treasures, beautiful gifts, useful stationary and unique gift cards for all occasions as well as the wealth of books. A little bit pricey but about what you'd expect for such high quality products. Definitely recommend a mooch round 👍
