This is an amazing community pub. It has a great bar with a lovey selection of Cumbrian ale and other refreshments, a cafe and comfy seating with quirky art and decor.
The food is first rate…..pizza, chips and the Korean bowl were resounding hits with our family.
The pub also has a craft shop and pottery studio where you can make and buy all sorts of stylish plates cups and bowls. They also offer short course and activities.
The gardens and park ing look over to the Lakeland fells in the West. And are beautiful even when the weather is not.
Whilst there isn’t any public transport close by, if you are passing or can make the journey for a visit, this is well worth a trip. Unique and independent business like this are a real treat and should be supported.

Amazing! What a beautiful pub. We sat outside in the sun looking at the beautiful mountains. Service very quick and very friendly. Food tasted amazing and it’s great to see the fresh grown veg and salad from their own veg garden on the plate. Chips also tasted unreal! Can highly recommended!

This is a pub which is finding a new lease of life as a quirky hostelry serving well prepared simple fare.

We were there in winter and the menu was stacked with heart warming food. Chips are to die for. Real ales and craft brews from the brewery in Lancaster and eclectic furnishing and music makes this a great place to weather out a storm or create memories to savour.

The combined pub / cafe / restaurant is big with a lot of tables. Apparently there is accommodation and craft events but I can't comment on that from my experience. I've driven past this pub a hundred times over the years and never stopped. Having done so now, it's on the list of places we will beat a path to.

I'm hoping we just had an off-day at the farmers lowick as I can see it's a great community hub and has solid reviews.
However, we had a few issues when we visited for Sunday lunch recently.

1. We arrived and ordered drinks. My husband's beer was completely flat and my orange cordial had bits floating in it.

2. We ordered the Sunday roast; roast lamb for husband and beetroot and celeriac confit with "all the trimmings" for me. The meals we received weren't great and were swimming in watery, flavourless gravy. The beetroot celeriac confit was just a very small slice of beetroot and celeriac. At £16, I felt quite short changed as essentially my small plate of food (pictured) was just a few soggy bits of veg swimming in tasteless gravy. The Yorkshire pudding would've been decent but it soaked up all of the liquid and had a black hair running through it (which I only found when I'd eaten half of it)

3. For our toddler, we ordered sausage and chips from the kids menu. There were only a couple of options. This came out around 10 minutes after our mains and was so hot, it seemed they'd only deep fried it after delivering the two roasts. Her meal when it arrived was a pile of chips and a small piece of sausage with no veg or salad

4. It seemed like they were understaffed. The lady working on the bar was lovely, but when another beer went off she commented that she was on her own and didn't know how to change a barrel.

All in all, not cheap and not particularly good unfortunately. Hopefully it was just a rough service this time around.

We had a lovely meal here on the last night of our holiday. The drinks were great, the pizza menu on a Thursday was delicious, and the staff were very friendly. We had a small mix up with a missing pizza, but this was resolved kindly and professionally by the staff. Highly recommend.

Brilliant pub. Convivial atmosphere. Excellent food. Caters for all tastes but what interested us, as veggies, was their bold and imaginative use of seasonal and locally produced veg. We were intrigued by the three course meal, with Swede in each course. I mean, we had to try that. It was fabulous! From swede tempura to candied swede and ricotta cappelleti in a Jerusalem artichoke sauce, and finally parsnip ice cream with swede biscotti. We also had the celeriac and artichoke soup and winter veg cobbler. Bravo, chef! It was creative and beautifully cooked and more importantly, delicious! In a desert of pubs serving 'safe' but vacuous veggie food, (there is more to life than mushroom risotto!) this is an oasis of unique and imaginative dishes. I want to go out and eat food that is like nothing I've had before. Well, you've come to the right place here. Yes, there are plenty of super tasty 'conventional' options too, but try something a bit different and you won't be disappointed! I could go on about the friendly staff, the cosy fire, the Jukebox and the excellent range of beers too!...but you can experience that yourselves. Thank you. We loved it!
