Hi, I have already posted a review on google but because things arent getting better and my head feels utterly messed up for life, I thought Id post another.

This college has messed me up for life and has ruined my life in many ways I cant even describe or explain, this college has traumatised me and has left me with life-altering injuries that I wish I didn't have every damn second.

Back in September 2019, after I'd finished Brooksbank, I started a level 3 BTEC IT extended diploma at new college however on my second year, I felt I needed to drop out due to it being stressful. Student Welfare repeatedly told me "You can't leave for mental health, you have to stay in regardless of how mentally ill you are". Due to this, I stepped off of the 40ft ainley top bridge screaming on the concrete at the side of the bypass. This experience has now traumatised me for life as I shattered my heels, L3, 4, 5 and sacrum as well as damaging my lungs with then being in intensive care for four weeks within the LGI (Leeds).

Due to the damage, the surgeon then did subtalar fusions on 14th December 2020 at the LGI as I stepped off the bridge on 19th November due to student welfare forcing me to stay in. After this, I had about a two year physical recovery to get up to as much ability as my feet allow.

I am now in New Horizons at Kirklees College in the 2024/25 year however this dosent have any positive affect due to the absolute mind I have been through up to this point and the life-altering affects of the calcaneus fractures.

I want to end this review by saying that this college has utterly messed me up psycologically for life with the bridge and the course with being in intensive care at the LGI and going through an absolute hellride to get walking again not to mention the life-long damages that have been done to my feet with loss of joints and function. Nobody knows what these injuries are like or understands the hellish ride that I've been through with screaming under the bridge.

Every second, I wish I could have my old feet back even in December 2024. And even in this month, I still feel utterly psycologically messed up for life due to what happened and not been able to have my old feet back. New Horizons at kirklees college dosent have a positive impact due to me feeling still utterly traumatised from everything I have been through. I feel utterly emotionally numb after the bridge and I feel utterly psycologically broken from the bridge and from new college with these injuries. New College has ruined my life and has utterly tainted my life forever with the bridge and with the BTEC IT course. I had one wish which was to leave. I'm sure I could have dropped out if it's what I desperately needed.

I am also going to end this review by saying that I remember every detail every screaming from the top of the railings, being in the ambulance pumped on oxygen and being within intensive care for two weeks in the LGI. And that I spent so long non-weightbearing in boots after the subtalar fusions were done in December 2020 after I spent four weeks within ICU and major trauma ward on oxygen and morphine. I can't describe how long it took to get walking again after the fusions and the LGI or what falling from the bridge felt like.

Even in December 2024, my development feels completely screwed up as well as my head still feels utterly screwed up from that event due to new college and New Horizons at Kirklees College in 2024/25 dosent have any happy affect due to me feeling utterly messed up from these injuries and from the long recovery process after the subtalar fusions and utterly messed up from falling from the bridge. This college has messed me up for life and I have no happiness second after second due to this college. Every day, I hate hate hate life because of this college and hate hate hate existing because of the events due to this college.

been to the open evening, asked a teacher about how I would get on being disabled and the fact I get tired very easily and may need breaks. Essentially the teacher said that there is no room for anything like that and there is no excuses for not attending, sod you hudds new college. Ive just been through cancer and you can't be arsed to accommodate for me.

Hi, I began studying at huddersfield new college in September 2019 on the level 3 BTEC IT extended diploma. However, once I was on the second year, I began to really struggle with the plethora of units on the course. The course was making me really mentally ill and I felt I desperately needed to leave or drop out. However, my family and student welfare kept forcing me to finish new college as I was "under 18".

Due to this pressure to stay in, I stepped off of the 40ft ainley top bridge and sustained bilateral calcaneus fractures which I struggle with every single second after huddersfield new college. I had to be immedietly taken to the LGI and required subtalar fusions in both feet followed by two years of physical recovery. I now go to New Horizons in 2024/25 at kirklees college however it dosent make me any happier and I still feel utterly traumatised every damn second of everyday. I believe that serious failings happened and I believe I had a right to be able to leave college even if I was under 18. I believe I did have a right to leave or to take a break and new college has severly traumatised me for life mentally and physically.

What a disgusting excuse for a college, just obsessed with beating Greenhead and Kirklees. Staff don't care about the wellbeing or safety of students whatsoever. Below are my feelings in more detail...
First off, the food prices are horrendous, and the college own brand food tastes like $h!t off your shoe.

Second off, MOST of the staff do not care about student wellbeing whatsoever, as I can demonstrate with the following example: A mate of mine who also attends HNC has been horrifically bullied here on several occasions, and when he has reported this, staff have pretended to be on his side, just to speak to the guilty party and side with them in the end, even when there has been overwhelming evidence against them (CCTV footage, witnesses, bruises, etc), which has led to behaviour logs, suspensions and many unnecessary arguments and high stress levels for my mate.

Third and finally, acc no I cannot be bothered to talk about this $h!t-tip excuse for a college any longer.

I'd give zero stars if I could. DO NOT send your child here unless you want them to suffer bullying, headaches and academic neglect.

Teachers were supportive and engaging. I’d give 5 stars for them!

I had a horrible interaction with Admin and office staff there though. I’d give 0 stars for them as it genuinely impacted my life there after.

If you need any support and information regarding mental health and finances do all your own research and demand your needs.
I was told “we only give that to students who are actually struggling” after this member of staff looked me up and down. No meeting. No name taken. Literally just told no in a corridor, I didn’t even get through the door.
I eventually dropped out due to those very issues a few months later.

Transitional support wasn’t really there and there was no communication between any services or the prior place of education.

I sorted my education out myself some years after and took myself to uni.
But I still look back and feel truly let down when I think of this place. I was a young person needing support, possibly even flagged up as vulnerable on the system. But I wasn’t taken seriously. The trust had been broken.

Only saving grace was a teacher in Religious Studies Mr O’Keefe (can’t remember his first name) excellent excellent teacher. I went on to study philosophy with applied psychology and I still have a keen interest in all the topics he taught! He’ll never see this but I feel bad for never having thanked him before I left. It was always a good day when I had his classes.

If you are a parent or a young person who is a young carer, from a care background, needing mental health support or financial advise try tell a friend or adult and book an appointment with the service you need and make sure this person attends with you. Take any and all paperwork to support. Don’t let them deny, demand it. It’s literally their job.
In my experience outside of this institute, you get taken much more seriously with a witness or advocate. Try do this within the first month of attending and do this even if you don’t immediately require support. Flagging yourself up should help if and when you do need the support. And it’s best to express this at a time when you’re able to. If you are struggling it can be more difficult to clearly express your needs and rectify a situation. Unfortunately if you’ve experienced any of the issues I’ve mentioned you’ll understand trusted trained professionals who are meant to know more than you regarding said issues, sometimes just don’t. And if they deny or simply don’t offer the correct support you may be inclined to accept the situation believing they are meant to be the informed party advising you correctly. So do take these steps as soon as you join so you will have more clarity to tackle and organise it all first yourself.
Inform your form tutor of your situations and past situations. If they leave make sure you inform your next tutor.

It’s a lot of work for a young person having to repeat themselves but even if you don’t need any support it’s best to future proof it all yourself.

Friends, family, carers and service staff maybe helping a young person with their further education make sure you genuinely support your young people! They seem like mini adults but it’s a complicated world and do as much as you can for them while you can! It’ll change lives.

Back in college I had mixed feelings about being here. First I was enrolled wrong and put onto 2 A-level and when they finally figured it out, after me saying something was wrong, they made me do another year because they didn't think I could handle it in one year.
I was bullied and when I brought it up, my amazing tutor argued my point, as she had seen proof, but in the end the matter was brought to the bullies tutor who had interviewed them together and came to the conclusion I was lying without even talking to me. So they continued to bully me and nothing could be done.
When looking for my final year A- levels, they told me to pick another module. But the woman, who was very rude, told me I wasn't smart enough to do what I wanted. Now a 1st Class graduate and a Master's Distinction student in Business Intelligence. She was obviously wrong. Teachers should encourage students but this whole time they were obsessed with beating Greenhead College. Not about the wellfair of their students.

Rented the court for 2 hours to play volleyball. Played around 2.30 hours, staff wasn't happy. Nice court, would be better if there were more drinking water sprays.

Best college around. Alhamdulillah the teachers helped me get three distinctions in my studies, which was the highest grade at the time.
