Really great experience with the owner and the widely respected CFI Captain David Smith. He is rather like a 'Tom Cruise' character in his prime. Customer care is the schools aim and sets a high bar for others.

Amazing experience and great fun!
We bought 2 experiences so each of us was able to pilot the plane for a few moments. Our pilot, David, was very kind and professional. He made us feel safe and provided a lot of information about the plane and flying in general. It was very windy, so we waited around 1,5 hour for a decision whether the flights will take place, but it was totally worth it!
Those who easily get sick should skip breakfast, especially if it's a windy day.

This review is about customer service. And this place has none of it. I arrived with my wife - it was her birthday present. They began asking me for a £6 landing fee. I responded by saying it would have been nice that they had told me when I called them last night as I had not bought money with me. The gentleman was so rude and started lecturing me on always carrying money, and refused to apologise about not telling me about this extra charge. The other couple that were there also agreed and said they had no idea they had to pay a landing fee either. The the pilot started defending the guy as well! Then to make matters worse, they threatened that they would not take us for the lesson because we were "refusing" to pay, to which I said i have not refused, I am upset that you didn't tell me. We have spent £200 and its reasonable to assume everything would be included. The other couple paid for us and we paid them back later. These people are a right bunch of morons. Steer clear - plenty of other flight schools there

Incredibly disorganised. Very few aircraft available and all of the good instructors have left for the same reasons. Don’t be fooled by the lower prices as they charge £28 for circuits which other schools don’t charge so it ends up being the same price. I would recommend Flight Training London, or really any other school at elstree. I did 20hrs with MAK and it was for the most part a waste of money.

I received a 30 minute flying lesson (with another participant, so I did 30 minutes observation as well) as a gift. I booked the experience long in advance, I went for early June, (I booked in December) hoping it would be perfect weather.

As instructed on my gift certificate, I rang MAK on the day of my experience (a large amount of reviews don’t seem to do this... maybe this is why you don’t get told your flights were cancelled) and was unfortunately told the weather wasn’t good enough so we weren’t flying. Disappointed, the chap on the phone quickly offered me another date (this happened a few times unfortunately, but I finally got a date where the weather was nice).

Again, I rang the day of my experience and was confirmed that it was going ahead. I arrived about 20 minutes before my flight time, and was quickly signed in. Met our pilot, a 19 year old named Katahn (unsure of spelling). I will admit I was apprehensive about a 19 year old pilot taking 2 newbies out but he was absolutely brilliant. Really knew his stuff and a great pilot. He was an excellent teacher and was obviously keen to let us take the controls as much as was safe. He made the whole thing really enjoyable and I had a great 30 mins of flying and 30 mins observing. He went above and beyond and didn’t just fly for 30 minutes, he showed and explained to us all of the aircraft’s features and what everything does.

If management are reading this, he really deserves a commendation.

In my experience MAK were great. They are definitely not a “tourist” experience, you can tell they are a flight school. Not a bad thing but I wonder if some reviewers expect something else?

One downside was that on arrival you are informed that the airfield you fly to charge 6 pound fee to land there. Not a problem, but would be good if this were to be mentioned on the phone beforehand so people definitely have means to pay!

I personally would really recommended MAK.

Very disappointed. Terrible customer service! AVOID!

My father in law bought gift voucher for 4 seater plane flying experience and confirmed they would allow 2 passengers and an instructor and one passenger would be allowed to fly. The gift voucher written by mak aviation was written for two people.

I called to book a time and they said only one passenger allowed in the 4 seater but I explained why the 4 seater experience was bought than the two seater experience. They denied what they said to my father in law. After calling again they agreed to have 2 passengers as initially agreed.

Turned up for the experience and they said only one passenger allowed on plane, very rude, not professional, poor customer service!

Even if you book in advance for a certain time be prepared to wait for over 30 minutes upon arrival also please call them before you leave to confirm as they really don't care if you come and they say the play has gone out for the whole day.
