Many reviewers found the exhibition to be fantastic in a lovely building, worth the 2-hour drive to visit. However, some reviewers felt that the staff's behavior put them off, and they would rather spend their money on things they can read about online.

Most historical places and museums have a large audience of tourists and visitors. It is recommended that staff treat them with kindness and show the hospitality of the city so that people remember it in a positive way.

Overall, Tullie seems to be a great place to learn about Carlisle's history, but visitors should be aware of the staff's behavior and attitude.

Fantastic exhibition in a lovely building. Worth the 2 hour drive to get there. The photos don't do the paintings justice.

Try to visit this museum to know more about Carlisle history. Such nice place though but the why staff was behaving, put me off and i was out for a walk rather spend money for the things i can ready and view online.
Most of historical places, museums etc has 70% audience of tourists or visitors. Better if staff treat them with kindness and show the hospitality of the city so people remember that city or place in good way rather than bitterness.

Only the Roman Museum open but what a feast of historic information displayed in a wonderful modern accessible way..the reception recommendation to visit the Bathouse site last week was just sensational..I visited up from Dorset walking the Wall...this is clearly in the Premiership of Archaeology in the UK..

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Tullie Museum. The art exhibition by Shelley Fell was very good. Some lovely artwork. We also had lunch in the café. You had a good selection to choose from.

Staff were quite moody and I felt like I was being watched so it was only a quick visit. But, they do have some good stuff in, more interesting pieces in the costume section. Also a good range of pre ralphelite and renaissance artworks.

It was a pleasure to visit this museum, which has a garden outside that was relaxing to eat my lunch in and the tickets are valid for up to a year after purchase so it is great that I can return for free! There are many informative exhibitions, including displays of artifacts and clothing from eras like the Roman and Victorian ones. Replicas of incident that happened in the past such as the Roman crime scene drew much interest, providing an insight into what it actually looked like back then. I was happy to be able to pick up a mock-up shield and the walls in the museum had very unique designs too, while the art gallery featured aesthetically pleasing work.

Interesting museum and exhibits . Visited on a train trip the settle Carlisle line . As a museum's professional noticed that some of the exhibits on the basement floor - romans didn't have labels . Various time periods of history explored would have liked to see more history on the town itself and Carlisle the place and the people who made it . Was free entry with art fund card so was happy. Would go again !

This is an excellent museum, especially the Roman gallery which covers all aspects of their occupation and their culture. Interactive exhibits would certainly keep children engaged. Other galleries include Costume, Vikings in the region, the Border history and flora and fauna.
There is also a reasonably priced cafe and shop. Allow at least 2 hours for a visit.
Admission is £10 with no reduction for Senior Citizens.
