This is hands down the best MMA gym in Stockport. I’ve been training here for 3-4 years, and it’s been an amazing experience. The community is fantastic, and the coaching is top-notch. Even as an older guy, I’ve seen significant improvement in my skills & physical condition and overall confidence. My 7-year-old son has been training here since he was 4, and he absolutely loves it. It’s a great outlet for him to burn energy, and he’s gained life skills that go beyond what school teaches, like mental resilience and overcoming physical challenges. The gym is inclusive and welcoming to all ages and genders, with everyone encouraged to grow at their own pace. If you’re looking to dive into the world of MMA, BJJ, or Kickboxing, this is the place to be.

My son has been attending the childrens program for 2 years now and is developing a love for MMA. The kids classes at 12 Gauge are very good and are split into age ranges. They are also well established, they have fighters now who started from the minis classes who are now competing and coaching-thats a big testament to head coach Matt an co. There are a number of coaches and assistant coaches which facilitate a good kid to coach ratio. There are gradings that are carried out which also celebrate and motivate the kids to work harder.
I believe the coaches all deal with the kids well and have alot of patience-its not easy to teach kids!
Overall I would recommend the gym and coaching for children, it is a great outlet for the kids to channel all that energy and build some skills, strength and confidence.

Pros: Fantastic Instructors, Great Location. Excellent Facilities. Kids will love it. Value for money (especially if you pay by DD)
Cons: Too many Kids in one class. Not enough sessions for beginner kids (only one per week). You have to stay with your kids the whole time. Only a 45 minute session which includes the warm up! Not work friendly times (at least for me as I finish work at 5:30 so getting the kids here by 6pm is nigh impossible)

I take my 3 year old daughter the the mini warriors class on a Sunday. The coaches Patrick, Rob & Izzy are brilliant. They offer a welcoming, friendly and positive environment and the classes are amazingly structured to teach MMA, discipline and listening to young children using references they can understand such as animals. Also the new facilities at Welkin Mill will be amazing when the renovation is complete.
