When I reflect on my time at Burton College, it was a terrible experience, particularly regarding the support for mental health. My time in sixth form was so disappointing because I was given false hope. One tutor told me that I could rely on her and confide in her about anything. However, when I revealed my personal mental health struggles, I ended up being kicked out. They refused to understand my situation and dismissed me when I was struggling.

I remember an incident when I collapsed during sixth form. Instead of helping me, the head teacher Bev Rowley called me out, saying there were better candidates who deserved my spot.

At that time, I was dealing with many challenges, like finding a job and managing an overwhelming college workload. Thankfully, I am in a better place now.

Honestly, I never expected anyone else to go through such mistreatment until I looked at reviews and realized that this college hasn't changed at all.

I hope no one else has to experience what I did.

As an adult learner you get zero support, all staff are too busy concerning themselves with looking after 16 year olds than anyone else... Was on a 2 year course and one tutor left in year one and a new head of the department left after 3 months in the second year... I left cus I had no confidence in the ability of the college, I had one shot to get the qualification I wanted as an adult learner and did not get the support needed because I'm an adult... Let down of a college, would not recommend to anyone to study there.

2nd time going back. Got kicked out for the 2nd time, they do not cater to needs of any sort of mental health. I'm autistic and I used music to help focus and I have issues with auditory and sensory issues. They did not listen to a single issue and theres many issues.

Very awful college, no feedback on work, constantly being locked out of the online course and work not being marked, to then find out you've been withdrawn from the course without prior communication and consent, then billed £100 for the luxury

This College put me down so much I’ve been here for 4 years and it was all going well and was enjoying myself up until I joined catering last year. I m autistic and they refused to understand my situation. instead some of the staff there were giving me false hope and completely ruined my opportunity to do good on there. I had no choice but to quit the course and when I spoke to my progress coach and someone else they never bothered calling me back and therefore I was dropped for nothing I did wrong. I hope this won’t happen to anyone else.
