The RSPB Pagham is a wetland ecosystem along the Sussex coast that offers an abundance of wildlife, predominantly birds, but small mammals are also reported although less frequent. Modest in size, but appropriate for the location and well maintained facilities are available before starting your walk on the trails. Serene and full of opportunities to spot or photograph all sorts of birds if walking in a quiet manner without disturbing the winged residents. Whatever the season, the deliberately undeveloped reserve allows nature to put on an abundant display. Parking was available and is moderately priced. A few bird watching spots are arranged within to lure all sorts of small sized birds closer to the patient visitors. A few wooden tables allow you to enjoy an alfresco meal after your walks. Will definitely return.

RSPB Pagham Harbour LNR is a real delight.
We arrived early and found there was plenty of parking space. Paying for parking was a different matter. There’s no outside pay and display machine, it has to be paid for by app and that’s a lot of hassle. Fortunately, we were able to pay inside, once the centre opened.
Once there, we followed to path to the hide overlooking the Ferry Pool and spent some time there watching a good variety of birds.
Next we took the path beside the Ferry Channel, where we could hear natterjack toads in a nearby stream. There are a number of benches and viewpoints where you can enjoy the local environment.
An added bonus is that the centre appears to be under the flight path of the two seat Spitfires that fly along the coast.
This is a good place to come if you like birds.

Two words - mud crabs!

Once you adjust your eye, you realise that in the flats, all the things you think are stones are in fact crabs.

We had a lovely relaxed walk .

And the cabin has a coffee machine and super friendly staff

Had a wonderful circular walk here recently. Love the closeness to the sea. All the water and old trees. Lots of birds to see and plenty of landscape/seascape views to take in. Trail was very muddy in places so recommend proper walking/hiking shoes.
Walked an already routed trail walk which took me through and along the reserve, passed an old church and along the beach then circling back in to the reserve again.
Highly recommended. Be aware though, can get very windy.
They have a small car park by the visitor centre and an overflow car park as well which closes at 4pm.
Toilets are available by the visitors centre and some refreshments also available.

Had a very good trip to RSPB Pagham last week, albeit gloomy weather. Good visitor centre and coffee or tea available. Car parking for visitors and a hide. Lovely walk down to Church Norton..

If you enjoy walking along country footpaths amongst some of this country's most beautiful seaside and wetlands you will love Pagham Harbour. See a multitude of wild birds and wildlife and be sure to check out the many RSPB leaflets, interpretation displays and online guides. There are designated RSPB car parks, but be prepared to walk. Wear suitable clothing and footwear and bring a bottle or two of water in hot weather.
