Fantastic research facility near Oxford open certain times of the year to the public, but you must book. The tour is roughly 2.5 hours, which starts with a pre-talk before the main tour of the facility. Advisable to wear comfortable shoes. If you have a pacemaker, I would not advise visiting as you will be exposed to areas with magnets. Parking is available onsite. If you are interested in science or electrical/electronic engineering, you will not be disappointed.

This is a wonderful place to visit for those interested in scientific research (physics, biophysics, materials, engineering...). I visited colleagues on my last visit, but public can visit on open days. Visit their website to register. I did that the first time I went. Take comfy shoes and follow instructions: it is a working lab environment with strict health & safety regulations. Ample parking. There is a small shuttle bus from the University of Oxford (see photo for link) to this facility, but I am not sure if it takes non-University members, worth asking.

Nice scientific facility with free tours on open days. You have to book in advance to get in as it is heavily oversubscribed. If you are interested in science, this is the place to go.
