I took my 2 year old and 3 month old here for a day out as my little boy loves fire engines and police cars and he absolutely loved it we spent over an hour and half here and could have spent longer, there is loads for children to do they can dress up, sit in a fire engine l, on a police motorcycle and even in a boat.
The staff are very friendly and the gift shop is also reasonably priced to. It was easy for me to access the whole building even with the pram. We will definitely be going back again

Had a wonderful time at this very underrated museum. The staff were excellent, friendly and knowledgeable. The adult ticket also lets you have unlimited access for a full year. The place itself was well maintained and flowed well. Information was plentiful and gave a fascinating account of our local history. Our 2 year old loved the interactive elements, especially being able to climb on some of the vehicles. It was not busy at all and feel more people should be aware of this lovely little museum. We also ate food at the café which was reasonably priced and very nice. Overall, a wonderful place where you could spend many hours being immersed in history.

Brilliant! I’ve wanted to visit for a while and today we brought my toddler, he absolutely loved it. It’s really well setup and isn’t overwhelming or underwhelming. I’m autistic so visiting places can be difficult but this place was perfect!

A great day out. Beautiful Victorian building. There's a lot to see in the museum including old emergency vehicles, WWII memorabilia and police equipment. Knowledgeable friendly staff. The café also does good coffee.

A great museum! We visited on a bank holiday, the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable.
There was plenty to see, we spent a couple of hours there.
They even put on a little Easter egg trial for children.

Parking was easy with several car parks just across the road

Even though it is a smallish museum, there are lots of things to see. From the outside it doesn't look like there is much to see but when you get inside there lots of little rooms in which to explore. It has a nice cafe and a gift shop, like most museums it has events on during the year. Museums of this size need support and I would happily visit again in the future.

Been past many times now had chance to go in (19.10.24).Highly recommended. Lots of vehicles, exhibits, historic rooms covering all of our respected emergency services. They even have a lifeboat out back but at the moment you can't go on it. Lift gives access to other floors if needed. Cafe and small shop attached, but didn't go in the cafe. Cost £9.50 on day of visit adult w/out concession, tickets valid for re-entry for 1 year - keep receipt and slip they give you (think you may need to sign off on gift aid for this). Didn't spend long enough in here .... minimum time I reckon you need 2 hours ideally 4 hours to give everything a good once over.
Note - nearest real ale pubs are The Shakespeare and 2-6 micropub, both excellent and a few minutes walk in opposite directions (the pubs that is).

Great place to visit. Our toddler loved trying out the vehicles that you could get in. Also interesting for adults. A ticket gets you free entry for the rest of the year. We will definitely go back.
