I am writing this review to share my deeply disappointing experience with Carers Disability Cornwall, whom I contacted regarding some
Support with my daughter’s disability. I intend to raise awareness for others in similar situations so they can be better informed about the challenges I face.

In June of this year, an employee of Disability Cornwall Services contacted me via email, introducing herself as the person who would assist me in securing funding for driving lessons. Obtaining a permanent UK driving license was essential for me, as it would allow me to better support my daughter, who faces significant health and mobility challenges.

Initially, I was optimistic. However, the process quickly became frustrating. When I suggested using my current driving instructor—an experienced professional who had successfully helped individuals like me—one employee dismissed the idea, stating that the instructor was too expensive. Despite my concerns, I trusted her judgment and agreed to follow the organization’s guidelines, hoping for a fair alternative.

Unfortunately, the situation worsened. After rejecting my instructor, the same employee informed me that she was unable to find another suitable instructor. The only option she offered was for a manual car, which I was unable to drive. She assured me she would update me as she continued the search, but I never received any follow-up.

After waiting anxiously for months, I decided to call the organization today, six months after my initial inquiry, to ask about the status of my case. To my shock, I was told that the organization had already decided not to apply for my lessons and had passed this information to my social worker. However, I was never informed about this decision, leaving me waiting in limbo for half a year with no communication or resolution.

This experience has been incredibly disappointing. The lack of professionalism, transparency, and empathy from Carers Disability Cornwall and its employees is unacceptable. Families like mine, already facing significant challenges, should not be left uninformed and unsupported for such an extended period.

I have all the emails and correspondence to substantiate my claims, and I believe it is important for other parents and individuals seeking support from this organization to be aware of how poorly my case was handled. Waiting six months for a resolution, only to be dismissed without proper communication, is a clear failure of duty.
