As a place to study, this is a mixed bag.

On the one hand, the University of Derby look after their students very well, in terms of their financial, mental and physical wellbeing. I can't really fault them for that.

In addition, the building itself is very well managed and ideal for the vocational courses it offers. The events, restaurant, cafe, etc. are all staffed by students of the courses.

Sharing the building with Buxton & Leek College is a bit strange, especially for older students, as some of the college students can be rather immature at times.

However, some of the lecturers are very good and supportive, and there are some lecturers with excellent industry knowledge who can set students up well for their respective industries.

On the other hand, there are still those lecturers who believe that their role there, is not necessarily to teach the subject that they're paid to teach, but to use their limited platform to spend much of their lectures preaching their political views to students. This is especially problematic when you consider how much students are paying (through loans) for these lectures.

If you can avoid these problems or are prepared to work around them, though, this campus is generally a very good place to study.

Went for lunch. Nothing special - its student fodder. But the building is remarkable and the acoustics in the middle are amazing.
