Some of the service I had here was good, but much of it was awful. For example, there was a nurse here who told me I needed to get “more of a sunniness” about me, even though she knew I was feeling as down as it was possible to feel.

Another nurse defended someone who’d told me to cheer up. She also laughed at me, gave me a hard time over me not liking to take walks, and said to me, while giving me a filthy look, ‘Do you dread me coming over?’

Another nurse told me off, then rushed me away when he saw that he’d upset me.

I can see why mental illness is such a big problem. With the mental health services being so damaging, it’s little wonder so many people with depression aren’t getting better.

My experience with this place has been the best I have ever experienced. First off I got lost in the housing around the centre because there was no signage and after a phone call a lady who worked there was kind enough to come and pick me up in her car instead of letting me wonder around, which obviously I was so grateful for! The two people I saw as an assessment appointment were absolutely lovely, they listened well and I felt comfortable! Was a little disappointed that I won't be returning to be honest because it really was a lovely experience. Thank you! ❤️

I attended my first ever appointment for an assessment, having got a copy of that assessment, Its disappointing to read that the important things that I said is not on there, and some information on my responses are totally incorrect and are things I did not say at all. If the nurse you see is not putting the right information or listening well then the whole thing is a waste of my time and theirs, nor can the right help be given. Having seen what I am supposedly suffering from under a certain heading , I looked it up and that also was incorrect. Wow! I have sent a letter to my G.P and to the nurse I saw showing the discrepancies , and of course I need the right information submitted to my regarding my doctors notes for future reference. I know when I was trained as a counsellor the first thing you learn is how to LISTEN! wrong information and conclusions leads to bad management of the patient and future help, very frustrating and I feel like I am back at square one.

I left a request for a call back on 19th June and to date no response from anyone !

I have previously asked ( more than once ) to have a face to face meeting with someone there who is -- allegedly -- a dementia specialist to talk openly about my wife's dementia ; again , no response has been forthcoming !

The Out-patient Psychiatric Department and the Recovery College are supportive, informative, helpful and caring. They will help you to manage your mental illness so that you can lead as normal a life as possible. When crisis comes they will support you through it or refer you to the Community Mental Health Team or the Millbrook Unit at Macclesfield Hospital if necessary.

I have been attending the out-patient department for almost 20 years now and I would not be here without it. I have only recently started attending the Recovery college and I am very impressed with it. Hopefully what I am learning and putting into action will help me to have fewer crisis situations.

Many Many Thanks to all the staff.

Rubbish communication and lack of care. Asked for a social worker for help with my support needs not being met, instead of ringing me to let me know who is being appointed as my social worker and to arrange a meeting they rang the support agency to tell them I'm asking for a social worker due to lack of support. This was two months ago and I'm still waiting to hear who is my social worker and when will we have a meeting about support needs still not being met. They obviously care more about the business, then the reason for that business.

The CBT therapist I had here made me think I was a weak, ungrateful brat.

I can see why mental illness is such a big problem. With the mental health services being so damaging, it’s little wonder so many people with depression aren’t getting better.

Someone once told me, ‘It’s hard for these mental health professionals.’

Another said that the nurse who told me to lighten up didn’t seem unkind to them.

I don’t care how hard it is for mental health professionals. Their job is to make me healthy again, not to make me even more ill than I was to begin with.

As for the nurse who told me to lighten up, I can see clearly that she’s one of the most unkind and uncaring people who’s ever lived.

My depression doesn’t make me an insult to anyone, nor does it make me a brat or an attention seeker.

I've yet to meet someone who cares. Snazzy place - must of cost a packet. Shame it's full of tin gods, others not up to the job, oh, and yes, those who haven't the backbone to tell the truth.
