This Local parish hall, later town hall (1878) Grade II Listed currently repurposed as a community art centre and Hall to hire.
An imposing Victorian building with an Edwardian extension adds to the lingering hubris and fin de siècle grandeur
The interior retains some original period fabric.
Always a locus for communal events; here both the suffragette, Emily Pankhurst and the fascist Oswald Mosley made public speeches and T.S.Elliot embarked on marriage.
Film location for the Sixties kitchen -drama "Georgy Girl.”

I paid for a class for my Daughter to start, 2 weeks ago, a couple days before it starts I receive an email saying it's been cancelled & they ask if I would like to basically keep the paid fee in with them (weird request why would I pay for a class she's not going to attend ) or a refund. I have been waiting over 2 weeks for a refund. I didn't receive a reply to my email initially I've had to call several times, I get different information every time I call. The place is being run by staff who constantly say they don't know that's not their department or job. After not receiving my refund I was promised last week I sent another email again last night saying how disgusting this is & how to make a complaint & I just received this email which doesn't even apologise! She's meant to be the manager! Yet doesn't know the names of staff? SOMETHING SMELLS FISHY TO ME. Avoid this charity. This is appalling to not refund someone when you have cancelled a class ... I WANT MY MONEY BACK OR ILL BE IN THIS WEEK.

I appreciate that I was able to rent space at this location on short notice, but it disappointed in so many ways.
1. I happened to have been here on two different dates. The second was during a heat wave in London. There are no windows that open and no AC, which is surprising for a rehearsal space. Two of my students had panic attacks.
2. When I arranged the meeting with Rod to visit the venue, he was 20 minutes late and didn't know who I was when he came out to meet me. He had forgot about our meeting.
3. There is no kitchen and no where for people to get water, which is shocking for a rehearsal space.
4. All the toilets were under construction, we were not told this was the case until we went to reception to determine the problem. No one apologised.
5. Receiving a response from AV about a screen and projector required 4 phone calls and 3 emails.
6. I was told, although no one was there in the evening, someone could book at 6pm and so we could not leave anything in the room, although other bookings were given this right.
7. I didn't use the space on the last day of our booking and told the staff I wouldn't return, as it was dangerous for my students and later told, an AC room was available they had just forgotten to tell me!

This place has terrible terrible customer service.

For once upon a time this place used to be a community Hub where family's could come together every Saturday have a coffe and allow their children to play and have a real community. When older children were in their clasess there was a lovely play area for the younger children to play sadly there is now nothing for them with only half the space younger children are forced to be board while waiting for their siblings for hours.
With a major overhaul of staff, communication between WAC staff and parents has been appalling often waiting weeks for a reply or no reply what so ever. Reception staff are often incredibly slow, never know the answer to your question or are u aware of staff absences and room changes.
However the only godsend is the Amazing teachers that have continued to provided good teaching so the teachers get 5* all the way

They were serving Bhog on the day of Astami, very welcoming people. Didn't ask for any donation or anything like that. Felt very good to be there.
