It's a great university with a nice environment. The facilities of the university are very good and almost all the equipment of the university are modern and high quality. Special workshops have been planned for all fields of study so that students can do or finish their plans and projects there. There is a very pleasant environment to sit with friends and drink coffee. There is so much peace in the area that you can safely sit on a chair and do your personal work. From the library to the dining hall, everywhere is calm, beautiful and pleasant.

It’s incredibly disappointing how poorly this university has handled my situation as a second-year VFX Film and Television student.

In my first year, we were misled about the course format, being told it would be in-person, only for it to convert into an online program without proper notice. To make matters worse, during my time living in Home Park, I was subjected to a predator in my flat who sexually assaulted me and made vile comments. Despite having text evidence and reporting the incident to the university, their only response was to relocate me to a different accommodation. I had to go to the police on my own, providing a three-hour statement, and yet the university failed to take my concerns seriously. After this traumatic experience, I no longer felt safe in Bournemouth, which is why I decided to work from home in my second year—it’s the only place I feel comfortable.

Adding to my stress, my course leader left his position over the summer following my first year, which left me and others in the dark, anxious about what was to come. We weren’t informed about in-person attendance requirements until the second year had already started, and since I only have one in-person art class per week, I made the effort to commute from London just to attend that. However, the new course leader enforced stricter attendance rules without considering our previous experience or my personal circumstances. Despite reaching out to my lecturers and student services multiple times, asking for flexibility due to my situation, I’ve been ignored or pushed back and forth between departments. Disability services, which I hoped would support me, have been completely unhelpful.

On top of all this, the university is refusing to offer us free BFX tickets this year, unlike last year, despite the rising costs of everything. The lack of communication, support, and accommodation has left me feeling neglected and deeply frustrated with this institution.

Really lovely university with quite many opportunities offered to the student. Its facilities are top-notch. My only issue would be with communications - sometimes emails might arrive late or not at all, prompting you to remind the university staff about yourself if there is an issue to resolve.

I studied here from 1983-86 and had a very happy and pleasant time. The campus has grown hugely since then and it's still a great place to study both in the Arts and Media industry. It's nice to see my family come here and study in my footsteps too and of course for me to return to an old haunting ground.
