The course structure, content and pace were all just right. I felt well prepared for the exam but Rob was keen to give us all the tools to be successful as a BA in the real world and he shared plenty of real life examples.

If you are looking to gain a qualification as a Business Analyst then I can highly recommend BA Training Solutions.

I was looking to gain the BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis and as a self funded student the price was important but ensuring the training was of a high quality was critical. I started by researching the larger providers. Their prices were great, the sales tactics were intense and the reviews were mixed. I then came across BA Training Solutions and reached out to them. Peter replied promptly to my email and answered my many questions. He was happy to send some contact details for previous students and on reaching out to one I got a glowing review back.

I put down the payment for the course. Due to Covid it was virtual courses but as I am based in Edinburgh this worked well for me. I elected to take the option where 3 courses are virtual and the Foundation module was self study. I took them in this order:

Business Analysis Practice
Requirements Engineering
Modelling Business Processes
Self-Study BCS Foundation Certificate

I found that order worked well but don't worry if you don't always understand where the content fits in to the project lifecycle. For me it fell in to place when studying and reviewing content for the oral exam. The virtual courses were run by Peter or Rob and were professional yet relaxed with good interaction from the delegates. The course material in addition with the BCA BA book gives you all the content you need. I'd recommend you pre-read the BCS book as noted in the joining instructions as it helps you better understand the course content. And don't under estimate the study required. During the courses I studied for 2 to 3 hrs after each day and the self study foundation course needs you to spend a good 15-18hrs to read and study the material.

On completion of the 4 modules I then booked in to an oral prep day with Peter. I was hesitant to attend one with other delegates but in the end there were three of us and it really was extremely beneficial to not only better understand the depth of knowledge needed but the flow of the oral exam. Peter provided very useful insight and the Oral Prep Day course book had superb write up from previous students. I worked through that book ensuring I could answer every question they were asked. And having other delegates let me see we all had the same questions or concerns which put me at ease. In the end the oral exam was actually a pleasant experience and I passed on the first attempt.

To summarise, I highly recommend BATS for anyone looking to gain a BCS qualification. The small organisation helps you get a personal service at a good value price with high quality training.

I cannot recommend BA Training Solutions highly enough. I’m usually in favour of in-person training, but Rob did a fantastic job providing this virtually. The course (business process modelling) was well structured, with just the right amount of breaks to help with onscreen concentration. The mix of individual and group activities worked really well and the course content was taught brilliantly and at a good pace. I’ve attended many courses over the years, and this was genuinely one of the best I’ve experienced (tied with another excellent BA Training Solutions course I attended (business analysis practice), delivered by Peter a couple of years ago).

I've just completed the diploma which I did over 2 separate weeks earlier this year. The training is well structured, well explained and was well delivered by Rob who has plenty of real life BA experience to share! The prep course with Peter was invaluable and provided so much help and very relevant advice for the oral exam I took yesterday. Will definitely be recommending to all those in BA roles!
