My first experience at black rocks, was to get to the top of "black rock" and seeing the beautiful sight of the surroundings was breath taking. Accessible for old and young, at a steady pace.
To explore the trail and the woods is my favourite place, right now. I have been walking my dog regularly there, and followed many twist and turns of the "off paths" in the woods.. it almost feels like a magical journey each time I go.
A great thing about black rocks, is that I can spend 30 minutes or half a day, walking there, with my dog.
In the summer, taking a picnic and enjoying the views and the wild animals is a calming experience. In the colder months, visually taking in the woodlands beauty and inhaling nature is enchanting.
In my opinion, black rocks is good for the soul..
In my dogs opinion, what better place to run free and feel safe.
Black rocks is a great place for all ages and abilities and leads off to many other interesting places.
Cafe and parking is available.

Get place to visit. Plenty of walks and routes in the area. You can do short routes or longer routes. There is a car park and cafe with picnic tables. 3 hours £3.50, All day £7 for cars and motorbikes, Feb 2025. You can take a short walk up to the rocks from the car park. Worth going up to the top as views are great.

Fantastic place for all the family. There are different routes for different abilities. It might be tough for wheel chairs and push chairs to get to the rocks themselves, but there is a flat cycle route that runs for miles with beautiful views along the way. There is a cafe with toilets but it was closed when I was there and plenty of parking which is pay and display. Can't wait to visit again.

Great area to walk. Most people stick to a climb on the rocks and a stroll along the path below the rocks. This is great and there are some lovely views but I would encourage people to explore the area a bit further especially Cromford moor and the woodland behind the rocks. As you can see from my photos, the last time we went was very misty and atmospheric!

Black Rocks is a place that you can walk around in different locations, but the place I went was a high rock and I was in high peak seeing the city, houses and Quarry. You need to pay for car parking whether it is disabled or not, you need to pay through an app called PaybyPhone.

Seems not too high but when you get up there on top and when it's windy is gives a bit of adrenaline. 🤪we went on Monday evening, wasn't too busy, only few people.
We enjoyed 😎

Absolute gem! Makes for a great mini trek up a (quite steep at times) trail which rewards you tenfold with a breathtaking view.
Additionslly, there are plenty of places to park at the bottom of the trail with well-maintained accessible toilets also.
