Well, they passed my daughter so how could I be negative! ?
Second time around at Buxton. It's worth the trauma to book, and well worth avoiding Stoke of Macclesfield. I did Stoke with my son. Very impersonal and a difficult area to learn. My daughter did a test at Macclesfield which is even harder to get your head around.
If you're lucky enough to get Patrick at Buxton you're on a winner. He's good at putting the kids at ease and is very fair with his critique.

Please ignor the bad reviews, my experience taking my driving test here was great. I travelled from Stoke to take my car test and do not really know Buxton that well either. Shaun was my examiner and from the get go settled my nerves and was extremely professional all the way through the test. At the end of the test he was so very helpful going over my minor faults, and giving me some experienced helpful advice, then after, sending my license off for renewal. What a gentleman he was, and not at all because I passed, but because he put me at ease from the get go and was very pleasent, unlike my previous experience I had elsewhere. Do not be put off by the negative reviews.

My daughter had her test cancelled 4 hours before she was due to take it as the examiner was unavailable. Probably hungover after the England football match. Managed to get a cancellation in Rochdale where she passed.. Not great being let down last minute when the test is booked so far in advance.

Passed here on 20th August 2024 with two minors. Don’t let the bad reviews put you off. My examiner was Paul who was excellent.

My son failed for stalling before entering a round about the examiner didn’t stop the car just failed him. We are now on the 5th attempt they always find some reason to fail him when only has a few minors. Completely unfair as he is a good driver just very nervous. Swear they make stuff up as a reason to fail he is starting to feel like he will never pass. Going to try in his own car this time as he is used to driving that.

I've had an excellent experience with the Buxton Driving Test Centre. Although I didn't pass on my first time (3rd time lucky!), the feedback was completely fair and I passed when I was at the right standard. I had Rob and Patrick as my instructors on the tests and felt both were very fair and pleasant.

Ok so I don't usually write reviews but this needed one. So my son did his test and the instructor said he was a good driver. He got a major on stopping in front of a junction in temporary traffic lights when a women ran across when on red. It's vile that people are trying their hardest to rinse young people for their money. Demoralising Disgusting, my son is broken by this inept outdated process, what up did the examiner fall out with his missus that morning. Old men with opinion isn't the way forwards, Continuous assessment better. Another tax on young people and have you seen some of the people they have passed that can't drive, a broken process ?

My only complaints are that the examiner was a little late and wasn't the clearest communicator but otherwise the test was fine, he had me pull over on the left a lot, which I thought was concerning. I failed as I had to turn right past the market place and was waiting in the centre of the road, I saw a learner with his left indicator on and thought he was turning for the test centre, he wasn't. The examiner claimed he was turning right and cut in front of me but either way he had to take control and even though I had only 4 minors this happened 5 minutes before the end of the test and I was devastated. I now have got a test in Macclesfield in December and having seen the reviews there, i'm dreading taking that test but I suppose I only have myself to blame.
