I am deeply disappointed with my experience at Capital City College’s Counselling Department. Despite being proactive and following every step of the application process for the Level 4 Counselling course, I encountered significant communication failures and mismanagement throughout.

I was repeatedly given conflicting information, had to chase updates, and was reassured about opportunities that later fell through. After being told a Level 4 course would start in mid-October and agreeing to self-fund, I received no further updates until I had to reach out multiple times—only to eventually learn the course had been cancelled via a generic email.

The lack of transparency and courtesy in notifying me about these changes was extremely frustrating, especially as I turned down offers from other institutions based on assurances I received. The staff I interacted with seemed well-intentioned, but the overall organisation and communication at the department left much to be desired.

This experience has not only caused me significant stress but has also disrupted my education plans. I hope the college addresses these issues to prevent others from going through a similar ordeal.

Glad my application didn't go through, I discovered during the enrolment how unprofessional and disorganised the management is. I called to ask about a course and the receptionist was absolutely unwelcoming, she didn't explained to me the requirements for abroad students and she only directed me to the application. They required me 3 years of bank statements and payslips but this is not normal: other colleges require 3-6-9 months only which this is suspicious. I tried to call them again and the same receptionist hold me to pass me another incompetent which was not able give me answers. Don't waste your time with this people, the reviews section is full of negative feedback

The tutors are excellent. Admin however… wow!
There is not one student on my course that is happy with admin.
I understand there are a lot of students attending but the administration is absolutely awful.
I don’t have time to write an essay about where they have gone wrong. It’s just their overall service

Today at 12:10 I had an extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional experience in the college toilets (main entrance). While I was using the facilities, the cleaner called out to me, insisting that I hurry up because they needed to clean the toilets. This was not only disrespectful but also an inappropriate interruption of a private moment.

Moreover, I have noticed that the bathrooms in 3rd and 4th are frequently in a state of poor hygiene. This affects the wellbeing of students and falls far below the standards of cleanliness and comfort we should expect in an educational environment.

I hope action is taken to improve the situation, both in terms of staff management and the upkeep of the facilities.

Do not recommend this college. They should apply equality and diversity, not just teaching. They should train their unqualified teachers about equality and diversity. Teachers are making a topic about Asian countries and putting the students down. Rough college not number one. Instead of EDI their teachers are shouting on students.

I am deeply disappointed by my experience with this college, and I cannot, in good conscience, recommend it to anyone, especially those with special needs. While the instructors at the college are excellent, the administrative staff have displayed a troubling disregard for the unique requirements of students, often adopting a rather rude and unsympathetic approach, leaving students feeling undervalued and disrespected.

In my case, one teacher had always been understanding of my need to wear a warm coat in class since I tend to get extremely cold without it. However, during a crucial test, an assistant insisted that I remove my coat, despite my offer to undergo a thorough inspection for prohibited items. She rudely declared that either I shed the coat or the entire group would fail the test. My pleas fell on deaf ears, and I was left with no choice but to endure the test in a state of shivering discomfort. The experience was nothing short of torturous, with my trembling hands making it nearly impossible to write.

I have since become a student at another educational institution and have witnessed a remarkable difference in their approach towards students with health-related needs. To compound my frustration, I have yet to receive my certificate of course completion from this college, despite having finished my studies in November 2021. Despite making countless calls and sending numerous emails, the responses have been unhelpful and repetitive, promising to pass my request to the responsible party who will contact me the following week, yet I have never received a follow-up call or email.

In the end, I had to give up, and I've decided not to include this college on my CV. My experience here has left a lasting negative impression, and I hope that other students find a more supportive and efficient learning environment elsewhere.

Horrible experience.
I attended a Counselling course last year.
I am still confused as to what was requested. The tutor was the most confusing and unhelpful teacher I have ever had. Very unclear guidelines and different rules for different classmates. Not to mention the administrative side of things: nobody ever replies to emails, everything is unclear and nobody explains clearly anything. I need my certificate to apply for other courses and nobody is replying to my emails.
