I've visited Darent Valley Hospital many times over the years, from emergency needs involving inpatient stays, all my pregnancy appointments along with the birth of my daughter, to other outpatient requirements.

I have to say I have always been met with staff trying to do their best and deliver the best care they can with the restraints they face from the NHS.

This hospital faces the same budget difficulties and pressures all NHS facilities face, but when required I have always received the treatment needed.

Parking is a nightmare but it is no different to any other overcharged parking for other hospitals. This is the management company that manages the car park's fault not the hospital’s fault.

No parking...EVER. park somewhere else and walk to save disappointment. Had letter with 11:35 appointment time only to arrive and be told it's actually 11:50 🤔🤨...now 30 mins. Also you'll get grief about having your phone out during maternity scan...so they can scam you with extortionate price for some pic's 🤦🏾‍♂️

First time at Darenth. Very pleasantly surprised. ALL staff, from Volunteers to Consultant were SO friendly and professional. Department had Smooth Radio in background, lively chatter among staff and patients. It had such a great vibe. Even had a school group singing Carols in the Foyer.. it was SO lovely. First time I have EVER actually enjoyed a trip to Outpatients.

When my mum had trouble giving birth, she ended having the operation to cut her belly open (can’t spell it) it was at 7 am and the nurses were moaning that they wanted to go home, that is very unfair could would they rather help a 39 year old lady have an operation to help give birth or go home leaving her in pain?
The only midwife that was nice was actually in training, her name was Grace. This was from almost 12 years ago btw

In this time of great difficulties with our NHS struggling to offer the kind of treatment that they would like to offer everyone , I just wanted to say how greatful I was for the care I received on my visit to A&E yesterday 03/01/2025 . From the time I arrived I was treated with respect and kindness . Of course there was a wait as there were many people waiting for help . One particular person stood out for being so understanding , kind and helpful and his dept was Frailty . His name was Mr Alf Abbott and he was the doctor that took me under his wing - Mr Abbott is a credit to the medical profession and I would like to say thank you to him . We really need more doctors of his calibre . Too often comments are negative but this was such a positive experience I need to share it with you . Thank you Darenth Valley Hospital especially Mr Alf Abbott

Just took the wife to A&E. In and out in four and a half hours. Which included a number of test. Staff were friendly. The Doctor was brilliant. Kept us informed while waiting for blood test ect. Couldn't have done more.

A&E ……You enter this hospital as you enter a casino and play the roulette wheel,Wednesday Evening 20:30 9hrs in A&E ,6 Hrs laying in a corridor after the 9 hrs in a little Bay then 3 hrs in a ward that the poor sister didn’t want me there as she couldn’t offer the proper conditions, finally moved to another ward with own room and toilet then 6 hr wait for 10 antibiotics to take home with me Friday Evening.
I’m currently receiving chemo and immunosuppressant,I carry a card to present at the desk with the names of chemotherapy I’m on and if entering with high temperature should be seen and administered antibiotics within an hour .
Had a temperature of 38:3 went to the desk at A&E was told to go a find a place to sit down in waiting room and try to keep away from people 🤨 then had to wait to see a triage nurse told to go sit down .🤨
2hrs later was called to little both where my wife and I had ti stay the night until 6am and administered antibiotics within, steroids and paracetamol..then another doctor come to see me and told me I’m not going for at least 3 days ( had to write the names of the chemotherapy as she hadn’t heard of one .At 6am was told I’m being moved to the corridor to wait for a bed at the very end next to the exit and enter doors which was more busy than Euston Station with staff coming and going to start shifts and the movement of patients.two porters came at Midday to say they taking me to a ward ( I’d already told the doctor and nurse first thing of the names of wards they recommend) got to the ward and Bed only for after few hrs the really really nice sister came to speak and said I shouldn’t be here and she’d found a ward with a side room and own toilet as I’m immune suppressant .
This Hospital is seriously broken, while the Nurses 90% run round to try and offer the best care they possibly can you have doctors and Admin staff making decisions without any care or priority
Every doctor I met had no information or Action plan .
You enter A&E and buy a lottery ticket.
