Scenic walk along the canal past Daresbury Laboratory. You can visit Walton Hall and gardens from here as well. Nice grounds and gardens. Lovely views along the canal. Also available from here is Moore Nature Reserve. So plenty of options

I did a speech here after being selected for a competition. I was 14 at the time & it seems I was purely selected to be belittled. They did not like what I had to say in my speech. I was treated terribly by the people running the fiasco, publicly and privately. The difference in how they treated me & the other kids was very noticeable. It was traumatising for me, I already had anxiety problems. I thought i’d push myself, I thought wrong. Do not allow your children to enter competitions or have any dealings with this place.

60 years ago this place was set up for research in the particle physics.. today it is an amazing place for R&D in high tech, with supercomputer, particke accelerator, engineering etc.. if you have the opportunity, visit them !
