I’ve been taking Mandarin classes at Dear Asia/Practical Mandarin for a couple of months now, and it’s been such a great experience! The school is accessible by tube, which makes life so much easier. The classes are small, so you get plenty of attention and support from the teachers. Speaking of the teachers, they’re amazing! A special thanks to Teacher Gen, who’s been so patient and encouraging. She really makes learning Mandarin fun. If you’re looking to learn Chinese, I highly recommend this school!

I've had a brilliant time studying Mandarin Chinese with Dear Asia. I've done two terms so far and both of my teachers (Gen and Tracy) have been spectacular, making sessions fun with quizzes (hence the googly bell!), certificates, games and lots of interesting cultural information. I'm amazed at how much I've learnt from the materials and the teachers are also lovely as human beings: when our class went for an impromptu end-of-term dinner after our final class, our teacher very sweetly came with us to explain the characters and the food. It's a great school, thoroughly recommend it!

Highly recommend learning Chinese here, especially with Sia! I've been learning Chinese through an app on my own for the past year, and it's been so much more fun & rewarding to learn with others - plus I'm learning faster and getting more guided practice. Classes have the right balance of support, and also rigor with flexibility.

I've been studying with Dear Asia London for about nine months now and have really enjoyed the weekly classes. The teachers put a lot of effort into their classes and create a really lovely atmosphere, so it's a great experience studying here each week. The classes have a relaxed feel, but still push you to challenge yourself and learn more.

I’ve been doing Mandarin lessons with Dear Asia for ~6 months now and have made huge progress. I started as a complete beginner with 0 knowledge and am already able to have basic conversations - my Chinese friends are all very impressed! I’m confident that if I continue at this rate with Dear Asia I’ll be fluent faster that I initially envisioned. My main teacher is Mei, who’s awesome and very experienced, and provides rich cultural colour to her lessons. I’ve also had lessons with other teachers (Gen and Ficke) who are also excellent. I look forward to every lesson 👍🏼

Very helpful and supportive learning - I’ve improved so well over such a short time and really give it all to my teacher. The interactive teaching is so comfortable for me and has made one of my best and easiest languages to have studied. I would really recommend signing up as every minute spent is useful.

I recently sat Practical Mandarin’s entry beginner course in Mandarin with zero prior knowledge of the language. I had a fantastic experience, each lesson was perfectly paced with varied exercises, excellent teaching and a fair learning environment. Sanni Laoshi was a very good teacher. I’ve walked away from the course feeling confident that I’d be able to hold some basic conversations in mandarin as well a better understanding of China and its cultural norms. I recommend the course!

Mandarin classes with Dear Asia and with Dongying 老师 is one of the highlights of my week. The classes are fun as well as educational, and she creates such a good atmosphere for learning and for interacting with my classmates. There’s a lot of emphasis on actually speaking more naturally and the kind of phrases you would need for everyday use. There’s always fun games and activities to reinforce the learning, and I feel like I’ve built a community on top of building my Mandarin skills. I can’t recommend this enough and I can’t wait to come back to another term!
