Loughton Voluntary Care takes elderly clients, many over 85, to do their shopping with support from our volunteers. This is a vital support for these clients who tend to be otherwise housebound and lack the opportunities for social interaction. The hire of the minibus to offer this service is over £4,000 per year.

Essex Community Foundation funded us £1,000 towards this cost for which we were very grateful. We found that in all our interactions with ECF, they were very helpful, approachable and friendly both in terms of offering help during the bid process and keeping us informed during the evaluation and award processes.

Essex Community Fund generously granted The Beacon Shed (a ministry of Thundersley Congregational Church) £4,000 towards a new roof for the shed. The shed is a workshop attended by many men who build and repair items, mainly of wood. We had been experiencing rain leaks in the past, particularly in the winter, and this problem has now been resolved. MANY THANKS ECF.

ECF has supported Aspire Educational Mentoring for the past 2 years, which has provided vital funds for the mentoring of disadvantaged 16-18 year old students in Tendring area to help develop their skills, confidence and aspirations with excellent outcomes. The process of application, monitoring and reporting is very client focussed and the staff have been very helpful with any problems. I look forward to working with them again.

The grant from ECF helped secured a 999 year lease for the Irvine Road Community Orchard. To achieve this goal, we raised £45k from generous public donations and our grant funders - Tudwick Foundation, Essex Community Foundation, the Postcode Places Trust and Colchester City Council. This has safeguarded a community asset that brings benefits for the wildlife and for the community who enjoy and manage this special place.

Essex Community Foundation have been a lifeline to us over the years with the funding we have received. Over 600 children registered with us and having upto 60 children a day this grant has proved invaluable. From the start to the monitoring the process is really simple .
