I applied 2 times for the same position( that was advertised 2 times in a period of 2 months). First time I was told that the position was filled even though the ad was still live on their website. Second time, I tried to call and I got a "we are too busy at the minute" type of answer, and the emails sent to the consultant were never replied. I sent my CV on their website, however I was never contacted back for an interview with the consultant in order to get the reference number and JUST AFTER THAT to be able to apply for the job.

When I sent my CV with the cover letter to an other consultant, he suggested to "not keep my hopes up". OK, I understand that you have lots of candidates( or at list that your excuse), however it would be just fair to actually interview the candidates as you will not be able to have a fair view on someone from a piece of paper.

I do work in HR Department, hence I know what I am talking about.

For an agency that works for a really classy type of people, you don't really inspire any of that. I know you could do better
