We have had dogs for over 50 years and they have all been more or less trained. When we got our last dog, a working lab puppy, we followed Jenny's advice and puppy training course. This has taken our training to a whole new level. Maddie is only six months old and is an absolute delight; brilliant recall, can walk to heel away from other dogs (who don't want to play), and is very responsive to our every command.Jenny has been brilliant with advice over every little issue that we have come across and we cannot recommend her enough. If you follow her methods you will have a delightful, rewarding dog who can be a trouble free companion for life.

We took on rescue Lurcher cross last September. He is our 3rd dog, so we are quite experienced dog owners. However, not long after we got Alfie we were struggling with his behaviour. Our vet suggested Jenny at Happy Hounds. After a phone conversation with Jenny discussing Alfies many issues, for example not socialised, scared of the big wide world, scared of traffic or as we found out noise in general....she suggested 3 x 1 to 1 sessions. So we met Jenny last October at Corbridge Rugby club, from the start she was friendly, supportive and instantly took to Alfie. We discussed his problems in detail where Jenny was very honest and supportive asking lots of questions about us, our life style and what kind of dog we were expecting. Due to her vast experience Jenny discussed in depth what Alfie had possible gone through before we took him on and what was happening to him now even to the point of was he the right dog for us .....her brutal honesty was amazing. The outcome of this very frank conversation was Alfie was the dog we wanted. Once that decision was made Jenny started with very basic training so that we could get Alfie out of the house. She made us totally aware of the hard work and roller coaster that we would be on but all the time she reassured us he was trainable and a lovely natured dog. Due to Alfies noise issues we met at Corbridge for all 3 sessions, much quieter, Jenny would take Alfie....who loves her!! And showed us what we needed to be doing....she made everything look easy, relaxed, and clearly explained what she wanted us to do, so that by the end of a session Alfie and I were able to do what Jenny had showed us, and that we understood. In-between session we kept in touch through what's app.....Jenny sends training videos, games to play with your dogs, and sends lots of support and encouragement too. We booked another 3 x 1 to 1 sessions in February....so I'd taken a month's break to really work with Alfie. We met at Tyne Green, hexham....much busier. Jenny was amazed at the difference in Alfies behaviour and the bond that had developed between me and him.....yes I've put an incredible amount of work into Alfie, I'm determined not to give up on him....but that determination is all thanks to Jenny and her amazing experience, knowledge and love of dogs. Because of Alfies positive development Jenny was able to greatly expand on Alfies training, so she's helped work on his recall, distraction techniques, dealing with noise of all kinds, introducing fun games....which are training Alfie still but lots of fun. By the end of these last 1 to 1 sessions I asked Jenny what's next. She is not pushy at all to get you back doing more classes.....she just said she's there for us always, anytime I need help or advice. She does offer group dog walking sessions and she said they would be good for Alfie to take part in. In short if I hadn't had Jenny as a dog trainer I dont think we would have Alfie still......but instead we now have a young dog with issues still but we know how to handle them, spot what triggers them and get him through. From not been able to get Alfie out for walks, enjoying a loving home, interacting with our family and generally having a lovely life after Jennys help, training, support and understanding of Alfies many issues we have a lovely dog like she said we would last October .
I totally recommend Jenny from Happy Hounds she is so friendly, loves her dogs, is very experienced and knowledgeable, makes training sessions fun, she's full of encouragement and support.

Jenny has been helping with our 7 year old lab and her issues with not knowing how to react to meeting new dogs resulting in her being too physical and anxious at the same time. Nala was a rescue from 1 year old and hadn't been socialised however has come on a lot over the years with this one issue remaining.
Jenny has worked wonders and Nala is now much more confident meeting new dogs, much more polite meeting new dogs and is overall much calmer and responsive when out walking. It has completley changed our activities as i dont think twice about where to walk and if there will be lots of dogs there.
I cant thank Jenny enough she is a true dog whisperer and im only slightly offended at how fast nala runs off to meet her for her sessions without a backward glance!

Learnt a lot about our dog with Jenny. We’re now having much more fun with our walks and working on the prey drive - we have a lurcher so lots of work to do.
Our dog hadn’t been exposed to many new situations so Jenny pointed out how to tell if he was anxious in a situation. This was really good as well as I hadn’t realised how to spot this.

We booked onto Jenny's reactivity training sessions with our two Border Collies, who are both reactive to other dogs in slightly different ways. We have seen a huge improvement in their behaviour and we now understand them so much better than we did before. Jenny spotted things that we hadn't noticed and interpreted their behaviour for us which has been fascinating. I really do feel like I know both of my dogs better now because of this and feel more relaxed walking them as we're better able to deal with stressful situations. Jenny broke things down into smaller steps which we built on over the training sessions and we now have the confidence to manage the things they're uncomfortable with going forward. Jenny is very knowledgeable, patient, reassuring, non-judgmental and kind, I would absolutely recommend her to anyone who needs help with their dog. I wish we'd done this sooner 🙂

Jenni was recommended to me a while ago when my setter Bracken kept running off and I wish I’d followed up the suggestion to work with her earlier. He has a very strong prey drive and sets off at 28mph when he goes, either to follow prey or just to find it. I had a little success at recall when he reached the end of an extended lead but Jenni has let me see how my body language inhibited him from coming all the way back. That’s one of the key things working with a trainer allows - Jenni feeds back to me how Bracken sees me and she is exceptionally helpful at pointing out the subtle dog reactions I don’t spot. Her knowledge of progressions to follow, her feedback, combined with her patience and perseverance really helps me to know how to proceed with his training. I despaired that he would ever improve but now I have hope, thanks to Jenni.

Both me and my German Shepard Roxy are so grateful to have met Jenny and begin regular lessons with her.
I booked on for a reactivity course to try and help my nervous Shepard and understand what the issues were. Jennys knowledge, expertise and guidance has been absolutely fantastic to the point where I now feel 10x more comfortable in any situation with my dog and understand her a whole lot more.

It took Jenny one walk with me to explain how Roxy was feeling and why she was behaving the way she did. We then got to work and over the next few sessions Roxy was improving rapidly. I’m now at the point where I enjoy walking my girl instead of worrying and she even walks and plays with other dogs now too. Thankyou Jenny (and Moona) for your excellent work.

Jen has made a world of difference to us and our rescue German Shorthaired Pointer who struggled to stay calm at meal times, couldn't be left alone and was unsettled whenever I left the house. Jen was quickly able to diagnose the underlying problems and give us expert advice on what to do. In a very short space of time, our dog is so much calmer in everything she does. We can eat our meals in peace and I can leave the house knowing she's not stressed. I'm absolutely blown away by how much we've achieved with Jen and cannot recommend her enough.
