I’ve been going to Jackdaws for many years on their piano courses, after my teacher recommended them. It’s a wonderful place and one of the highlights of my year. I always feel lucky as an amateur to receive tuition from some phenomenal tutors, always delivered in a relaxed, supportive and friendly way. While it might feel a bit daunting to play in front of others to start with, one soon realises that we are all in the same boat and I’ve always found the groups to be fun and supportive. The relaxed atmosphere is helped by being held in a picturesque village by a river, and having home cooked meals and cakes throughout. If you’re thinking of trying out a weekend there, I would highly recommend them.

I attended singing courses at Jackdaws several times and it was always an amazing experience. Instructors and pianists are fantastic musicians, inspiring and supportive. One gets lots of individual attention and can develop technique and musicality at any level. It is a comfortable friendly environment that makes it easy to learn and explore new repertoire. The staff is wonderful and cooking always delicious. I always return from Jackdaws re-energised and look forward to coming back!

During July this year I spent four wonderful days at Jackdaws Music Trust. I have done this for the last three years. A piano course hosted by Mark Tanner.
It is a fabulously peaceful place in the English countryside where you can sink into your piano playing without the distractions of the world.
The advice and guidance is first class. I always come away with real golden nuggets to use.
Only one to say - “Highly Recommended”. 😀🙏🎶🎶

Jackdaws continues to provide a wonderful range of courses for musicians of all ages and abilities. The well chosen tutors encourage all participants and provide advice where necessary. This is all encased in a peaceful country setting with first class cuisine and delightful nearby accommodation. And if that were not enough, the trustees are continuously mindful to ensure that musical and educational values are considered with expertise and care, whilst the Jackdaws staff are on hand with warm smiles and welcomes. I cannot praise it enough, and have attended numerous courses over numerous years. Congratulations Jackdaws. A superb beacon indeed.

I had a wonderful experience at Jackdaws on their 'Confident Pianist' weekend course. I was not at all confident at first: I was anxious about playing, and being taught, in front of other people. The tutor, Tim, was expert at helping us all feel comfortable. His feedback was balanced, helpful and encouraging and his musical expertise seemed without limit. By the end of the two days I felt happy about playing in public and my nerves had greatly diminished. I very much enjoyed the immersive experience of focusing on my piano playing for two days. Jackdaws itself is a lovely venue. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the food is simple, delicious and plentiful. I can thoroughly recommend Jackdaws and I shall be attending further courses there.

I have been on several voice courses at Jackdaws and they have all been excellent. The instructors and accompanists are of the highest standard and every course has given me something different to help me improve my solo singing. The courses are enjoyable as well as instructive - there is always a lovely, supportive atmosphere and it's great to share your passion for music with other like-minded people.

We are always well looked after by everyone at Jackdaws and the food is excellent. I can thoroughly recommend the courses for anyone who wants to improve their musical skills and spend time sharing with other musicians.

I had a great time on the chamber music course. It was organised really well with the opportunity to play with a few different types of ensemble and across a range of musical styles. The staff were very supportive and the other musicians friendly - it was a lovely weekend away and I hope to return next year.
