Kaplan Oxford is the place you have to experience! I cant be more thankful for my all my memories here. I need thank all my teachers . Teacher Corin, Rachel, Guizzla , Shun Shun and Nikola. They all are so motivating with their smiles and the way they teach. Its not a usual way of teaching you learn it in many different activities !! I started my course in level B1 and I’m graduating in level C1. The location is also really good, ıts few minutes by bus to the city center which you can find everything. Fernando cafe is also very good with many variety of options you can get. I strongly recommend you to experience here.

Because Kaplan is a US company, they really go overboard with the required apps and the ridiculous number of verifications every day. I had no less than 7 passwords that I had to use on a daily basis. Kaplan also sends through irritating and company-wide 'Yay, team' type emails most weeks and requires many internal training modules - mostly unpaid. There is far too much unpaid admin required ("it's included in your contract"), made worse by those who are checking, making regular errors so we had to backtrack and waste yet more time. Management spends far too much time putting out fires because there is no time or inclination to overhaul the system. Budgets are so tight that there are computer issues almost every day, there are very few proper desks for staff in the classrooms and the cooling didn't work at all in 2 of them. When I was there, an IT person finally made a 'routine' visit to sort some issues out - 7 months late. Kaplan has its own textbooks which teachers are supposed to follow, but these often limit the scope of a more adventurous teacher and often are not the same as the online versions we were supposed to teach from. They cover a 12 week course and then we repeat them again and again and again... Middle management NEVER takes responsibility for anything that goes wrong, preferring to blame teachers on the front line. I was micromanaged to within an inch of my life to the point where I got a telling-off from my manager for not placing the chairs in the same position as he would have preferred.

I would definitely recommend this to others who want to improve their English.

I attended this school to prepare for the IELTS exam, but unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfactory.
Firstly, the placement test was conducted in the cafeteria, where it was difficult to concentrate due to the noise. Regarding the IELTS preparation classes, they were inconsistent and heavily dependent on the teacher. During my short stay, I had five different teachers, and the quality of teaching varied greatly. While some teachers, such as Guizella and Jo, were excellent and truly amazing, most of the others seemed to prepare students for achieving only a low level of proficiency. Additionally, the class level was quite low and did not reflect an advanced standard, which is concerning given that most academic institutions requiring the IELTS expect scores between 6.5 and 7.5.

Another major issue was the lack of English being spoken among students. Most of them communicated in their native languages, which made it difficult to create an immersive learning environment.

The overall atmosphere of the school was also toxic. Few social activities were organized, and when they were, participation was minimal, making the experience feel uninspiring.

The client service was disappointing as well. Students were treated as if they were children, and the school’s authoritarian approach felt misleading, especially considering the high cost of enrolment.

One of the most troubling aspects of my experience was the perception of a misogynistic attitude within the school. On many occasions, I was made to feel uncomfortable due to comments about my appearance, which I found deeply inappropriate. Despite the anti-discrimination policy mentioned on the first day, these incidents made me question the school’s commitment to upholding those values.

As for accommodation, I stayed at The Mews residence, which was equally disappointing. There was a significant lack of staff, and the kitchens were poorly equipped. The freezers contained expired food that had been there for months. Overall, the facilities did not match the high price paid. By comparison, Student Castle offered much better standards for the same price.

In conclusion, I cannot recommend this school to anyone seeking a professional and respectful learning environment, nor can I recommend The Mews as a suitable accommodation option.

Overall, Kaplan school was good, but I believe I need to know a little English. Coming from scratch to another country can be a bit challenging.

I’m really satisfied with the quality of this language school. Mainly teachers were passionate and professional and students from all over the world had high motivation to study to make their study and career better with English. I studied here long time ago, many changes might have happened there but it still would be good place, hopefully:)
