My daughter Chloe is nearly 7 and lost her mum to a cancerous brain tumour in late November after a 30 month long battle. After a taster session with Sebastian, she asked frequently to join and so we did, she has taken to Martial Arts with such rigour and enthusiasm in spite of the circumstance and could not be more grateful to yourselves at Legacy for everything you teach Chloe and that such an amazing facility has opened in our town. Full Marks from me. The improvement in her confidence is remarkable.

Thank you

Legacy Martial Arts

I recently took my daughter to Legacy Martial Arts for an introductory session, and while I was initially impressed by the disciplined and professional atmosphere, I ultimately left feeling disappointed and disheartened. As someone who has served in the military, I value respect and core values, but this experience left much to be desired.

The instruction and teaching style were simply not suited for young children, especially those with high energy. During the practice session, my daughter was having a blast—laughing, joking, and occasionally losing focus. However, she was not being rude or dismissive; she was just a seven-year-old enjoying herself. Instead of nurturing her enthusiasm and guiding her attention, the instructors seemed to expect her to arrive with perfect focus and discipline. Their claim of being a place for growth felt disingenuous when they suggested that we go home and work on her concentration before returning.

What struck me as particularly frustrating was the message we received during our final discussion. It appeared that rather than adapting to the needs of energetic children, they were quick to dismiss those who didn't fit their mold. Children are meant to have fun and explore, and it’s concerning that Legacy Martial Arts seems to prioritise conformity over engagement.

If your child is calm and easily follows instructions, this place might work for you. However, if your child is spirited and needs a nurturing environment to develop focus and discipline, I would recommend looking elsewhere. Our experience left me feeling that Legacy Martial Arts is not the right fit for energetic kids, and we won’t be returning. Save your time and find a place that truly embraces the joy and growth of childhood.

My three little lunatics (ages 7, 9, and 10) have been attending Legacy for just over a year now, and they absolutely love it! From day one, Alex and Elaina have been phenomenal teachers, bringing energy, patience, and expertise to every class. A special shoutout to Seb, who was fantastic during the introduction stage, helping ease their nerves and making them feel comfortable about starting something new.

What truly sets Legacy apart is the way the academy is run. The leadership and coaching team work seamlessly to create a supportive environment, ensuring that every lesson is meaningful and impactful.

All in all, Legacy isn’t just a place where kids learn martial arts; it’s a place where they develop confidence, discipline, and invaluable life skills. Highly recommended!

My son (6), has always struggled with his attention and focus both in and out of school. We brought him to Legacy as he wasn’t interested in football and we felt martial arts could help him. 9 months later and I couldn’t be any happier with his progress. He is far more focused, his school reports have improved and he is overall a completely different boy! The team at legacy are patient, offer a fun approach to learning but also demand discipline from their students which is a perfect combination. He is now ready to be graded for his orange belt this weekend which is just amazing in the short time he has been coming to Legacy. Thank you team, you are amazing at the work you do with your students!

My Daughter (7) has shown nothing but enjoyment and enthusiasm towards MMA since joining Legacy 4 months ago. The growth in her as an individual/young lady has been incredible to watch. This is based on the environment she trains along with the coaches and team that are professional and equally enthusiastic to teach.

Al in all a great environment for growth in all fundamental aspects of life for any age and competence level.

Fabulous martial arts training. Really caring and nurturing people who come up with solutions. The class is so inclusive, when my little boy had an accident at school with his hand a few weeks after he had started, they offered private lessons to keep up the momentum of the lessons and when he was ready to join in class again they introduced different aspects of JKD such as elbow work and grappling instead of hand work so he wouldn't have pressure put on him. He loves the classes, the positivity, discipline and focus he is showing both here and at home since he has started is incredible and I'm really glad I was introduced to Legacy! Just thank you!
