Having attended many of the workshops and the accredited AMUSF essential soft furnishings course I can wholeheartedly say that I have thoroughly enjoyed them all.
The tuition from Maggi , Matt and Elain is no less than excellent, delivered with patience passion and professionalism.
Looking forward to developing my skills at the next courses.

On Monday 10th February I attended a Clean and Revive furniture restoration course.
The location was beautiful, the studio was well resourced and the tutor, Andy, was incredibly knowledgeable and professional.
I enjoyed the day, the tea and the conversation. I went away feeling very knowledgeable and ready to have a go at more furniture restoration projects at home.

The School if Soft Furnishings is quite local to me and I wish I'd found it sooner! It's a wonderful place to learn new skills. The environment is very warm and relaxed with excellent teaching staff. The kettle is always on and the welcome is warm too. Maggi and her team have a very well kept studio so I didn't need to bring anything really - other than my fabric. Maggi and Matt were on hadn't ahead of the course too to advise on getting the right amount and type of fabric for the job in hand. I've taken three upholstery courses and a Roman Blind course. Lots of people return to further their learning and I only wish I had more time to do so myself. I'm now about to take the embroidery course. I should think that this will be equally brilliant and I can't wait!

I'm in my fourth year learning upholstery with Maggi, and Matt. It's been an absolute pleasure! The teaching is second to none, the facilities are superb, there is a lovely relaxed atmosphere with many laughs amongst the whole group. I’ve been studying both upholstery with Matthew Gates and soft furnishings with Maggi Loughran for the last three years after two years at another centre. Maggi and Matt are not only wonderful teachers but are also the best in the business. Their knowledge is gold dust and there isn’t anything that they don’t know about upholstery and soft furnishings. They are so encouraging and generous in sharing this knowledge too. I have learned so much and only wish I could do every course on offer!

I researched for a while to find the right course to make blinds, most were a day course to make a sample. Maggi’s was the only place doing two days and was incredibly comprehensive. Excellent knowledge, tips and guidance from a fully qualified teacher with hands on technical experience. Cannot recommend enough, Maggi is warm, supportive and hilarious. I’m on my 4th course and love my new skills and friends!

Amazing place to learn the art and skill of Upholstery. You really feel like you're learning from the best, and there's an amazing wealth of skill, knowledge and kindness from Maggi and Matt. They also offer other very tempting courses such as embroidery, weaving and soft furnishings. A very addictive place!
