Small, but lovely National Trust property. Really nice experience - writing with pen and ink, listening to the poems… in the garden a lot of spots where you can listen to the poem and a story about it.

I parked along the street, but they have parking in front of the house.

Wonderful small National Trust property celebrating the English Poet Coleridge. The property is situated roadside in a small village with narrow streets. Parking is opposite in the public house “The ancient mariner”. I was not well informed about this poet before visiting however my lacking education has been filled! Staffed by knowledgeable volunteers who had detailed information about their subject. The property is full of interesting excerpts of poetry his life story and the inspiration he found from the local area. The garden is worth visiting especially as it inspired one of his works. Small efficient tea room and unisex toilet available. No shop currently (awaiting to reopen but no date as to when). Well worth a visit. Limited disability access and no disabled toilet due to age / layout of the cottage. I would recommend booking a ticket in advance as due to size of property numbers can be limited. Booking on National Trust website in advance - free if you are a member however I’m not sure of non member prices.

One of the smaller National Trust properties we've visited but it still provided an interesting experience in a pretty location. We had a lovely welcome from the very knowledge team and then spent 30 minutes in the cottage and the same in the lovely courtyard and garden. Definitely recommend the cheese scone lunch!

Really enjoyed the visit. The guides were very knowledgable and friendly. We learnt a lot about Samuel Coleridge. Unfortunately when we visited the cafe was not open and neither was the pub opposite, hence the four stars.

Up there among the best of the Trust that I've visited. May seem easy to overlook, even in the handbook, but it is small and full of stories. Great staff who provide a warm welcome. Interesting history. Good interpretation and a good amount of interactive parts (even try your hand with a quill!) The garden is gorgeous and the tea room pleasant. Will have to try the food next time!
