Impressive house with Chippendale furniture throughout. Volunteers were very knowledgeable regarding the history.

The gardens were nice for a stroll, but as we were visiting in winter a bit sparse.

Parking is adequate, but beware the ticket machine only accepts coins or a National Trust card, no debit/credit card which we found strange and had to pay via the website.

Lovely place to visit. Have an enclosed space where dogs can roam free. Large grounds so even when busy the dogs have space to roam. Lovely trails and wood area perfect for children. Has toilets, cafe and sells books. Perfect for a Sunday walk. Only downside is parking is £5 but that's for non members

Pleanty of dogs and places to walk them. It would be a great venue for classic cars if National Trust could open it up for the same once or twice a year. The house is not as grand as other period stately homes, but rooms are accessible and volunteer staff were friendly and willing to share stories of the families and their adventures and losses during their stewardship. Cakes, scones, tea and coffee, ice creams, as well as basic sandwiches, jacket potatoes, and some other hot meals.

This place is so good for your soul. Acres of land to walk in, a fine house to explore and wonderful gardens. The tearoom is lovely too and you can even take your pooch in with you. It’s a great place whether you are a lone visitor or with your family.

Nostell is an amazing country house to visit. The house and gardens are beautiful and are obviously better to visit during a warmer day but are still worth an excursion on a less clement day if you feel like a day out.

The staff are very personable and extremely helpful and knowledgeable. You should definitely take the time to ask questions - the answers may surprise you.

The house is seen as a ‘treasure’ and once you have visited you will probably be of the same opinion. A lot of the interior decor is remarkably preserved and well cared for.

The gardens are also something to behold. On a warm summers day I could spend the whole day just wandering around and taking the time to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. There are features here that will possibly take your breath away as some of my photographs will show but they do not give you the real experience of being there.

Try it, you won’t be disappointed.

The hall, garden, park and lake were all so incredible.
The hall was very polished and informative. The park had many unique , new and up to date stuff that I have not seen in any other parks.
The garden was my favourite! So full of life, I loved seeing and smelling all the wonderful vegetables and fruit. I don't think I've ever seen THAT many in any single greenhouse or farm ever before. So successful for them to grow so well and healthily.

Always a favourite place to visit, lots of walks and places to picnic and access for free, although it's worth paying to visit the house and formal gardens if you haven't seen those before. In the courtyard area (also free access) there is a cafe, snack bar, shop, second-hand book shop and toilet facilities. A lovely morning / afternoon out!
Edit 11/01/2025 - Also great to visit in the winter months. It looks beautiful in the snow!

A great location, lovely grounds and the house is definitely worth a visit! I come here with my kids during the week and my husband joins on weekends. It has a great play area, some beautiful floral gardens and the cafe is lovely. The only negative is that the cafe is expensive!! The prices are too high IMO. Example - a toastie was £8. That is double that of the likes of Costa! We are members and that's a contribution from us in itself, if the prices were lower on the food it might entice us to visit the cafe more often. Aside from that, I highly recommend!
