Great place to spend a full day. The house is absolutely stunning. And really big, fully kitted out and has a nice quiz to complete in each room. Staff were very informative. Coffee/cake shop was brill and the gift shop was fantastic for a national trust place.
Some just have the usual book shop but this was fully stocked with magnets, mugs. Plush, handmade wooden artifact, gardening and outdoor equipment. It impressed me.

A few trails to veer off to after you've explored the house and the garden is very well kept full of life with fruit and vegetables.
Parking is plenty with disabled access.

Great location with excellent and varied gardens and walks of varying lengths through the estate. Many rooms to explore in the house with lots to see. Needs several hours to take advantage of everything the estate has to offer. Probably the best food offering I have seen in an NT tearoom also.

Lovely gardens to explore and a historic castle to view. Don't forget the orchard with all the rare fruit trees. Wheelchair accessible grounds, There is a mile without a stiles route that's accessible via the car park. A lovely National Trust site to visit.

This was an interesting house with loads to see and a fascinating history, well explained in a video you watch early in the tour which explains how the house came to be in national trust hands and looking as it does, which is largely as it did many years ago. The Strickland family not having the funds for many generatons to significantly alter or remodel it has left it all the more interesting for us.
Usual excellent NT tea shop and 2nd hand book store. Nice gardens to wander round.

Great day out with the grandkids. The gardens were beautiful and kid friendly. There were many interactive items on the main lawn. The house your was interesting for adults however it is not appropriate for very young children, under 8 yrs.
The parking is pay and display. Yet, the single machine was a bit twitchy. Recommend an online pay to park app if you have one. The app we used worked flawlessly.
The café was well staffed, and many tasty items were on offer. This was a nice day out in the ever illusive sunshine.
We recommend at least 4 hours to enjoy everything at a leisurely pace.
