It was good about ten years ago, had some nice teachers there, but then the grading system changed after that, so no coursework was to be included in the mark, even my course tutor left. There are no courses left at a level 2 that offer good vocational training and guidance with a chance of placements, starting now at a level 3 instead, with someone who has two grade C's already in the bag. They've taken out the useful starting blocks in any career or profession that people of any age want to get into. It won't make people any wiser, richer or smarter. Isn't this why the adult learning centre was created, for people of all adult ages to want to better themselves throughout their learning lives, and not only for school leavers with above average grades?
People should have an option to start from somewhere, from levels where you can then progress, with or without all the grades prior to the subject matter, if there is an interest there.
I'm appalled now at the centres lack of subject matter, it's not okay to rule out someone's chances of securing career based work, based purely on status and financial background.

Just completed a Level 3 Counselling course only for everyone to be told that the presentations each person completed for Unit 2 are insufficient and do not meet assessment criteria. Our teacher was being 'creative', apparently. The other evening class completed an essay and passed. We were told on the very last day at noon as walking out the door.
