I had a colonoscopy at the Quadram Institute yesterday and the quality of care was superb. I have long felt the NHS needs to be more process focused on common treatments and here it is. A purpose built unit that streamlines the flow of patients to maximise efficiency.

In total I was in contact with around 10 members of staff doing a variety of roles and they were all really friendly, putting you at ease, keeping you informed and making sure the procedure was as pleasant as possible. By the way, it really isn't bad, the worst bit is the prep you have to drink the day before.

Amazing facility, amazing people. I'm more than happy to pay my taxes for an NHS like this!

Just had my (hopefully) last gastroscopy. The staff are amazing, caring, understanding and always smiling. It really put me at ease. They are all very calm and professional making you feel that you're definitely in safe hands. Well done and thank you to everyone at the Quadram who looked after me today.

I am a Patient under Mr JM Hernon.
I had an appointment on the 9th of August at 15.41pm , I was asked to change in to 2 gowns and Nurse AP Carol MacDonald asked me questions and she took me into a room where there was another Nurse Present, called Eduardo Floresme & the Endoscopist MISS DELIMPALTA., WHO did not even look up , as i am a friendly person & said Hello everyone, she did not lift her head up say Hello she just had her back to me the whole time.
The Nurse Caroline Macdonald was Briliiant ,she calmed me down as i was nervouse of the procedure .
Miss CHRISTINA DELEIMPALTA then came over to me anddid the procedure she stil did not explain or talk to me in any way . I have never ever EXPERIENCED PAIN LIKE IT EVER , I was is soo much pain I was Screaming in agony but MISS DENIMPALTA still carried on, it just got more & more painfull ,
That i was screaming so much That Nurse Macdonald said I think you should stop now to MISS DELIMPALTA, Nurse Macdonald also said again I think you should stop now again this Endoscopist ignored her & me as i screamed at her to stop.
I will Never Ever go to the Quadrum center again and if i have to have this treatment done again i will have it at the N&N. AS THIS ENDOSCOPIST WAS DEFFINETLY A NOVIS & SHOULD HANDLE HERSELF PROFESSIONALY IN ANY TREATMENT SITUATION ESPECIALY IF THEY are Elderly because what she was doing to me was Really Cruel and I was left with Bruising on my lower back & Abdomen.
I would never want anyone who dose not have a voice either through Dementia or any other Illness to Endure Such PAIN FROM MISS DELIMPALTA.

I received 5 star treatment at this very special place which is
the largest endoscopy department in Europe.
The building is state of the art and the staff are top notch!
Attended for a colonoscopy and it all went very well.
I had the conscious sedation and didn't feel a thing during the procedure which lasted about 20 minutes.
During the procedure you will be wearing a hospital gown and
shorts with a slit at the back so you are completely covered.
It is all very discrete.
To those who are apprehensive about the procedure, don't be, it was a piece of cake!
Harriet, the endoscopist and her team were excellent.
As for the plenvu you have to take prior to the colonoscopy,
the first sachet was okay if drunk cold with a chaser drink in between sips using a straw.
The second two sachets while not terrible can be nauseating but once the prep is over the rest is easy.
I reduced my food intake three days before the procedure and ate nothing on the day which I think helped.
Thank you to the wonderful staff for your very high standard of treatment and care.
I hope that this helps others who are attending for this procedure.

Was referred for a colonoscopy by my consultant.
From start to finish the procedure went brilliantly due to all staff involved; reception staff nurses and, doctors.
I was made to feel completely at ease; experiencing minimal discomfort during my time there.
Such a brilliantly clean welcoming environment too.
Thank you so much to all the staff.

This was my third visit to this wonderful facility.

Google maps brings you to the door. There is a car park for visitor's use to the right of the main building. There is a concession depending on how long you are within the institute building.

The main entrance is clearly easy to find (follow the green line on the floor).

Once inside, everything is clearly marked where you need to go. I was attending Endoscopy which was downstairs opposite the entrance.

The friendly reception staff greet you and give you a form to fill. Didn't have to wait long before a nurse called me in to go through the pre-op paperwork. After that, everything went exceptionally smoothly. My consultant doctor and his support nurse team were extremely courteous and professional. After my procedure, I was taken to a recovery room where, once again, I was treated very well by the nursing team. A short while after I was then taken to the discharge room where the nurse briefed me on the result of my procedure.

All in all a terrific experience given the reason I was there. A five star hotel experience within the NHS!!
