Dear Kind People at Gonsal Farm Animal Centre,
My full name is "Doctor Zachary Smith" - my previous carer named me after a character in a SciFi movie "Lost in Space". My new Carer, Victor Steeden, simply calls me "Smithy".
I am writing to you (via my carer) to tell you how well I am getting on since you and I allowed him to adopt me on the 17th of February 2023.
He has turned out to be quite good at his new late life career of looking after me.
He lets me sit on his lap if I'm a bit chilly and to sleep next to his head in bed.
You did warn him that I had a bit of "Cattitide" when you handed my care over to him and I have to admit, I did scratch or bite him, drawing blood, for a week or three.
Now he is very careful and he and I are inseparable.
I got him to knock up this Christmas Card for you and we wish you all a very Happy Christmas and God Bless you for the wonderful work that you do.
I will put three copies of this Christmas Card in the 1st class post as well for those that remember me.
Kind regards,
Smithy and Victor

Where do I start? My daughter and I were looking for our forever home dog. We looked on all RSPCA sites and came across Gonsal Farm. They are one of the smaller centres which I like. We saw a few dogs on their site and came across Poppy. She was the right size for our home and we put in an application. We heard back fairly quickly and got a call the next day. I was told about how she arrived there and what she's been through. I was in two minds when I first heard it all, not knowing what we were going to be getting into with a rescue dog.
I had an open mind and we went to go and visit Poppy. She was and still is beautiful. She was frightened to meet us, however Emily did "my friend is your friend" with us and she slowly warmed to us.
We went back another 3 times to visit her to spend time getting to know each other.
Emily, Louise and the whole team have done, and are doing an amazing job.
Poppy has had issues with her eyes and skin, I was given all the tips on how to keep her healthy.
Poppy has been home with us for 3 weeks today. I called Gonsal Farm last week for some advice and again, I felt listened to and supported.
The level of care they all give to the animals is just wonderful.
Poppy is happy and we are still learning with her and will be for a long time.
I know I am in a position to call for advice if needed and that's reassuring.
Thank you to the staff here. I'll be back soon to bring Poppy for a visit.

Staff clearly care about the animals, but my daughter, after speaking on the phone with Gonsal Farm staff made a 102 mile round trip to adopt a rabbit, that seemed a perfect match for our grieving bunny Belle who lost her companion on Friday,. When she got there she was told that we did not match the criteria because our hutch is not big enough. Apparently you now need a hutch the size of a shed with a run twice the size. Surely they could have saved her the trip and told her over the phone.
My husband had started to build a new run for the new bunny when it arrived home until it could eventually live with our rabbit. but that aren't good enough! At the moment we have two guinea pigs, two bearded dragons, a yellow Belly slider and four cats. All adopted as their owners no longer wanted them. They are loved and very well cared for! But we're not good enough for Gonsal Farm! 😢

Went after seeing a cat online whom had been hit by a car at an early age and lost his tail. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They take good care of the animals which have been brought in, and do everything they can to get them a good home.

The staff were very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions.

I've now adopted the cat I went in to enquire about and he is very happy in his new home.

It's obvious that the staff there love their animals and do everything they can to ensure they go to loving homes. My 5 year old rescue cat, adopted during the pandemic, has been the most wonderful companion since losing my beloved Zebedee. They matched us up perfectly.

For two days we heard a dog being abused... the owner screaming at it, the poor dog crying in pain and fear... reported it to the police only to receive a text from them saying contact the RSPCA... called them only to be told that because we'd only heard the poor dog suffering and not seen it, they wouldn't do anything and we should contact the landlord to report a noise nuisance... can't believe that was the response... what about the poor helpless dog... this isn't about a noise nuisance, it's about a poor defenceless dog being abused... we're devastated
