Day skipper sailing course with the one and only Kev. He was an absolute legend, with a good mix of safety, teaching and humour. Always pushing everyone in the group that little bit more to get the best out of them. His style of going into depth on subject I found really useful, and his personal experiences from his varied and colourful career in both the sky and on the water was very interesting. He also tailored the course to the students skill and comfort levels which I feel many instructor's wouldn't have done. Just wait until he makes fajitas! Thanks for a great week Kev! I also had the privilege of sailing with three other great people who were on the course, all in all it was brilliant.

Just spent a fantastic week with Kevin teaching my family and I how to sail along the incredible Cornish coast. Kevin is a hugely experienced instructor with an excellent teaching style - very patient and calm with my kids, a great sense of humour, and full of brilliant tips and knowledge. And he is an excellent fajita chef as well! My 19 year old boy has now been bitten by the sailing bug and wants to learn more. Have sailed with a few sailing schools before in the UK but none compare in terms of experience - would thoroughly recommend Sail Training South West.

If you want to start or improve your sailing skills Sail Training Southwest in Falmouth is the place to be. Communication about the bespoke training required and booking the course was prompt and efficient. My instructor, Kevin Bridgen, made a week of sailing memorable. He sparked the interest in sailing to my son and his girlfriend, who had joined us for a beginner’s taster. Kevin simplifies complex concepts and manoeuvres in logical formats easy to assimilate for the student. Man overboard, close quarter turning, anchoring, passage planning, estimate of distances at sea and much more are elaborated and adapted to different situations, with the student stimulated to pick the corresponding correct action. With his charming personality, vast experience and good old-English sense of humour, Kevin’s tuition is truly “a cut above the rest”. Highly recommended.

We can highly recommend Sail Training South West. The Competent Crew and Day Skipper courses were demanding and intensive but also a fun and enjoyable experience you'll take with you as you progress with your own sailing career. Kevin is an amazing teacher, with patience and positivity! He is professional, totally cool when we undoubtedly got things very wrong at times and gave us the confidence to try and try again until we succeeded.

The boats were clean, great working order, and comfortable. Kev is extremely highly knowledgeable about all things boats. He took four strangers with different levels of sailing experience and made sure that we all leant new and necessary skills.

Having completed our day skipper course abroad last year as a family we were looking for some additional training to improve our skills in England. We spent three days with Kevin in beautiful Falmouth and had a fantastic time. Kevin is a superb teacher and taught us the latest up to date RYA teaching and made the complex simple. He was incredibly patient, calm, humorous and full of enthusiasm. We will certainly look to continue learning with him when possible and I would highly recommend the courses and area as a perfect place to learn.

You won't find better instruction than Sail Training South West. The Competent Crew and Day Skipper courses were demanding, fulfilling, and an experience you'll take with you no matter how far you take your sailing career. Not only was Capt. Kevin an amazing teacher, but I also found him to be extremely patient and professional, while keeping the atmosphere light and fun no matter the weather or circumstance. The boats were clean, great working order, and comfortable. Every need was met and more. He took four strangers with different levels of sailing experience and turned us into a team of sailors.

Fasten your seat belts, ladies and gentlemen… you are in for a experience of a lifetime.
Outstanding teaching by Kevin, quite rightly setting a high bar for each topic taught. Kevin also added bonus content over and above what was required (for day skipper in my case). A very well equipped and well provisioned boat and the beautiful estuary and coastline around Falmouth made for a very comfortable and enjoyable experience.
I will definitely be going back to do my next qualification.
