Highly recommend the self defence beginners class that Richard offers. I was anxious to attend as I'm not very confident in social situations, but Richard made the whole process very easy and calmed my nerves. He answered all my questions and welcomed me to the class along with the other beginners. The class was informative and fun and I will be signing up for more classes going forward. Thank you 😊

If you are thinking about signing up for self defence I highly recommend Richard at SDF. He’s highly knowledgeable, professional and makes learning fun and enjoyable.

I joined the half day beginners self defence class with two friends and had the best morning. We first learnt self defence theory in the classroom about how to keep yourself safe from potential threat before going out into the park and learning step by step how to try and diffuse a situation and then how to take someone to the ground in a controlled way in order for you to run away. We also learnt how to defend yourself against a knife attack. You are not made to do anything you don’t want to do and Richard continually checks in to make sure everyone is ok.

This was all done with the utmost professionalism and also was so fun! You can go to the half day and come away feeling more confident and safe, but you can also sign up to his 1 hour sessions afterwards to learn more. I will be signing up and can’t wait to come again.

Richard's classes are invaluable in this day and age and accessible to all ages from 10 upwards! Both my family and I have learnt everyday tips that we can put into practice straight away. Just the few classes I have done were jam packed with theory and practical exercises as well as expertly structured. Highly recommend!He knows his stuff!

I attended the self defence half day beginners course, and would recommend it to absolutely everyone.

I learnt a few basic things about keeping yourself safe which somehow I’ve gone through life totally missing in the first theoretical part of the session. For example, keeping your back against a wall when texting in unfamiliar/ potentially dangerous places.

The practical part was very empowering, and very well taught.

Richard and his family who attended the session were very professional and friendly. I’m very pleased I attended the course and hope to attend some of the more regular sessions in the future.

What an amazing set up SDF ESSEX Self Defence is! In the first instance our tutor Richard explained everything about self defence and made me realise that it's a skill that everyone should have even the basic understanding of!
It's not just about punching someone the throat and running like mad, it's about understanding the situation and reacting accordingly!
Richard is clearly passionate and motivated about what he delivers and even takes a few whacks himself with not the faintest of problem.
It's more than self Defence it also keeping fit and building your own self confidence!
I without debt reccomend this class....my daughter and I gained alot. Thank you Richard and keeep up the great work. The world is safer with you helping us.

Highly recommend Richard. He really knows his craft, and teaches easy and simple methods to equip youngsters and adults to deal with everyday personal security and safety issues. A friendly and knowledgeable chap. Book in fornhos classes. You'll love them.
