Played all 36 holes on the Wellington and Waterloo over the last 2 days. Absolutely stunning courses. Fantastic condition, especially for the current green fees. Love the fact that there is a grass range, which i find is getting rarer to see in public clubs. Staff couldn't be better. Just a great experience.

(I walked the Wellington, which is fine if your somewhat fit but deffinately made the right choice getting a buggy for the Waterloo, would be abit of a trek without it)

We played Sherfield Oaks on 27 June 2022 as part of The RBL Armed Forces Day, lots of money raised for The RBL Poppy Appeal 2022 which is fantastic. Unfortunately the same can’t be said for the condition of The Wellington Course. Myself and my 3 playing partners, all ex SO members, were utterly shocked at the disgraceful condition of the course. I was a member there for 20+ years and have never seen the course in such a state, rough left to grow uncontrolled, no definition to the fairways, fairways bare and very brown in places, the tee boxes were truly awful, bare divots left untreated, broken tees everywhere. It saddened me to see a course that I was a member of for so long, and enjoyed playing, left to be neglected in such a manner. Get Golfing…. Hold your heads in shame !!! Your members deserve much much better

Can’t thank you enough for a GREAT golf day last week - the course was in superb condition, especially considering that it had been under water not more than a few days before; then the catering and table decoration was absolutely spot-on - really made the birthday girl feel special!! Above & beyond the call of duty, as ever!! You made the day stress free & enjoyable for all of us, and for that I thank you very much.

We played a few friendlies during the summer and were considering joining so we booked a round today to try a course in the winter. We weren’t told that there was some sort of competition ahead, but we soon realised when we had to wait on every tee and fairway. After three hours and 9 holes we’d had enough. Quite pricey paying £32.50 each for 9 holes. Sorry but we won’t be back.

Considering the amount of rain we had the course was in good condition, there was lots of boggy bits but the greens was ok. But the bunkers were terrible, more grass than sand.

This place was amazing. The water features were lovely and the course is brilliant. I have played many courses worldwide and this is one of the best I’ve played in. I will come back to try the Waterloo course and will bring more reviews.

This course shouldn’t be open given the current condition.

Having said that, the tee boxes and greens were in good shape considering the time of year and weather, but everything else is a muddy mess. Fairways were a bog, and all of the paths were swimming with mud. Talking of swimming, you could’ve had a dip in any of the bunkers.

More annoyingly, the course was carry only with no warning at all. Not helpful with a cart bag. Questioned this with the grumpy short haired lady on the desk who claimed ‘it’s on the website’ (it’s not) and when we pressed further claimed ‘it’s on the members newsletter’. Frustrating.

Both the Waterloo and Wellington are quality courses, both upheld very well by the team and offering different challenges.

The staff and clubhouse are excellent, and they constantly put on events for members such as challenges, sweepstakes, bbq’s etc.

The biggest issue this course has is its timings for tee times and controlling pace of play. As a member I play here often and most of the time the tee times are too closely stacked together meaning the pace of play slows down drastically. There have been a number of occasions I have finished a round after 11/12 holes. I can only imagine this is down to being a member and pay to play course.

It would be great if there was a members only timing to make the experience more enjoyable for a regular player & member.
