I had been at this university from September 2024 to December 2024 and I unfortunately left mentally scarred , feeling powerless , disheartened as if there was no justice and there was corruption. Amazing teachers and education but very poor action taken towards pupils & behaviour issues. I was unfortunately sexually assaulted multiple times and framed for a no caller ID by the same student which was not me ! I was kicked out & absolutely no action towards the student was taken to my knowledge ; they are still in the course in the same acting class as I was. It left me very angered & destroyed after the decision taken by the people responsible was very unfair in my opinion and having to try my best to sit back and contain all this anger & frustration during the 3 whole months they kept dragging this case on especially as this case opened in November and I was immediately kicked out and the student had no action taken against them as I am guessing the university assumed the older person was in the right or something corrupt. My case hearing was on January 2025 on new year and it was the worst start to my new year to be repeatedly reminded of this situation over the course of 3 months - present date which has left me traumatised , angered , powerless & anything to describe the pure feeling of corruption. I lost complete motivation to maintain the relationships with my friends and family and I couldn’t do basic things like shower , brush & my hobbies like gym , music ,and my diet was non existentant and very unhealthy. Acting has always been a passion of mine and I’ve pursued my career from a young age but this situation has not only damaged my motivation & hopes but also damaged my reputation amongst my family outside & my amazing friends whom I’ve made memories with aswell as receiving the love & care from them since this has happened to me ! I am able to provide all the evidence / details of this case to anyone willing to hear my story ! Please do not go here if you are worried about being sexually assaulted & being a vulnerable individual especially if you are a person who is just a bit too caring / loving looking to spread love , understand anyone , spread kindness , peace & positivity and aiding the people around us no matter what race , background , situation ! (A little bit of a me problem 🙂 )

Read 'Jay's' review from a year ago regarding the film course. Without question this is the worst film course I have ever been involved in. I've taught at over twenty universities and colleges, both here in the UK and abroad, but nothing comes close to being as bad as this. In certain areas of teaching it's comedically bad. You're left wondering how on earth anyone has any hope of finding a job in a related industry upon graduating. There are numerous problems, with just two being that students are often not taught salient basic 101 information and taught things that are simply wrong or utterly misguided. Equally alarming is that some of the staff genuinely believe it's a good course. If you are thinking about studying there ask the staff how many graduates over the past seven or eight years are employed (not work experience) in the film and TV industry and as to how many of the tutors have numerous IMDb credits. And finally.... the head of the course has never worked in the film industry.

Wouldn't accept me for any Masters course as I got ASD and past mental health issues. I got a 2:1 for my undergraduate degree and the course requirements for the Masters was a 2:2. My review doesn't reflect the lecturers or most of the staff. They refused to do a real appeal on rejecting me due to my ASD. After weeks and months ignoring me on and off and refusing to do a appeal they did a last minute one just saying no with complete rubbish saying they wouldn't accept me due to academic reasoning which is lies. As I got a 2:1. They only did a last minute appeal for me as I got organisations involved. Only way to make them stop discriminating me was to get lawyers involved but I decided not to and let the uni get away with it due to not wanting to pay thousands of pounds of money. I will smash my Masters at a different uni and prove this horrible uni wrong. If you got any type of disability or mental health issues please don't study here. I gave 3 stars for my overall undergraduate degree but based on the Masters situation I'll give 1 star out of 5.

My entire experience of being an international student at St Mary's and the wonderful faculty, facilities, support and like minded cohort has been absolutely worth cherishing. Thank you to everyone who made the journey of graduating successfully worth it.

As an international student, St. Mary’s university has helped me groomed not only professionally but personally as well. The faculty is extremely knowledgeable and supportive, the assessments are designed to challenge your critical thinking and decision making skills. I’m very grateful and proud to be a ‘Simmie’!

To whoever is planning to study film - DON'T

Lecturers are nice and theory part of the studies is interesting but if you are looking into learning about something practical this is not the place for you. During my time here we were asked to produce 3 short films - 1 each year but we got NO help with anything from the academics. Their involvement stopped on putting us in groups and they just wanted updates on how we are doing time wise. They haven't taught us a single thing from the production and we always had to figure things out on our own. For example we only had 2 hours in our first year where they showed us how to use basic Premiere Pro which was just putting things on a timeline, the cameras we used were Cannons - there was no professional equipment for video, sound or lighting and we had to share it amongst all the groups and students on 3 different years. They also promote Media Studio which is never used for any filming and the kit in there doesn't work and they don't even know how it works.

I absolutely regret studying Film here. I feel like I haven't really learned anything and it was just me and other students doing videos on our own without any help and then just receiving critique on it. Absolutely not worth the money, 30k for something anyone could have done at home.

I paid for a short course £1650, was sent the course guide detailing what books and supplies I need to order/buy which I did. The course was cancelled with only 1 week notice, as not enough students signed up. I had to wait 2 weeks for a part refund, I am still chasing for the rest of my refund. Really poor admin which is a shame. I cannot comment on the teaching or facilities as I never got to go!
