The Stanwix Church Gardens entrance is easily missed, in fact the whole garden is largely hidden from public view my mature trees. This tiny little gem of a garden is a a small oasis of calm right in the heart of Stanwix village and close by the busy Brampton Road.

I visited in winter 2018 and part from a few snowdrops poking through the whole garden looks dormant just waiting to break through in spring. Unfortunately it appears since my last visit the fascinating wildlife ponds have been filled in. I don’t know why perhaps its a health and safety issue but the animal and plants that thrived their are gone. Only the excellent educational signage still exists which hints at what used to be there. I am assuming though that plans are afoot and new beds will be planted so that once again this little treasure can be a secret place shared between friends.
