Easy to book - staff were very helpful on the phone. They warned us not to follow sat nav taking us down Venn Lane when arriving, for which we are very grateful. Pictures look great, and the reality is great too. We were delighted to be greeted by friendly staff on arrival, and see that the hotel was well-kept and beautiful. The setting is so pretty - on a slight hill with sea views and nestled amongst pretty Monterey pines and other foliage. We had one of the most peaceful nights’ rest we have ever had in a hotel. Pillows and bed were perfect - sheets soft; temperature perfect in the room. We loved using the games room in the basement to play pool and darts. There is even a heated, indoor pool, a jacuzzi and a sauna. Unfortunately, we were unable to use the pool, as there was a children’s swim class going on on Saturday morning. This was our only disappointment with the hotel. Overall, it was a fantastic find, and it is great value for money. It is wonderful to know that there are still family-run places like this, so well-kept and still affordable for families.

Alex and Miles accommodated us at short notice when the hotel we had booked was forced to close. They made us very welcome in a difficult situation and their natural talent for hospitality shone through. In a stunning location with beautiful sea views the property is being bought up to date as they bring their vision for it to life. The breakfast was outstanding and amenities like the games room enhance any stay. Based on our fantastic experience Stoke Lodge will certainly go from strength to strength

Lovely 3 night break with our dog. Very comfortable hotel, exceptional food/dining, wonderful choice for breakfast, attractive & comfortable bar & lounge. Double room with sea view, large bed & a sofa, comfortable & good quality linen. Heated indoor pool was lovely & very warm. Pleasant location & we imagine lovely in summer with outdoor pool & seating. If I could make one negative comment it would be that the shower in the en suite was rather dated & over the bath, apart from that , a lovely stay......and our dog was made very welcome. Staff helpful & friendly. The village is very pretty with a shop & easy access to Dartmouth, Blackpool Sands etc.

We enjoyed a 3 night stay at the Stoke Lodge when visiting the village for a birthday party. We found the breakfasts and dinner to be excellent and the indoor pool was lovely and warm. Very friendly staff. Our room had a sea view and a very comfortable large sized bed.
Would be happy to stay again.

After staying at the Stoke Lodge for many years this was our first visit since Myles, Alex and family took the helm. The experience was as good, if not better, than ever. Friendly, easy going and helpful staff and the food was exquisite. Add that to the hotels superb location you have the perfect escape. Good luck to you all in your new venture and look forward to seeing you in the coming months.

Looking to treat ourselves for Christmas, we booked at Stoke Lodge Hotel. Less expensive than other places we looked at, but there was something organized for every day, a lot of effort had been put in, so even better value.|We found it to be clean, comfortable, friendly and helpful. Myles, Alex and both sets of parents put their all into being great hosts, presents at Christmas breakfast, escorting guests to Midnight Mass, Christmas morning on the beach, coastal path walk to Dartmouth and lifts back if you only wanted to do one way and a fun quiz. It is also obvious that they are making their home here and get involved in village life.|A special mention for the fantastic food, which we enjoyed every bit of.|We know there is an ongoing extensive refurbishment and we wish them all the very best with their plans and new family. |Hope to visit again before too long.

We have just returned from our stay at Stoke Lodge. My partner and I stayed for 4 nights. When we arrived, we were told that we had been upgraded to a sea facing room, which was a partial facing as a large beautiful tree lived outside of the window. So no worries at all.

The room was very dated, this surprised us. It was clean and warm but had no bar fridge. Which made it a bit hard to keep drinks and snacks cold but again, not a deal breaker. The actual hotel itself, was dated parts were newly renovated or so it seems whilst the rooms needed some love.

On site they had an indoor heated pool, which was lovely for the rainy days and an outdoor pool which will be great during the summer months. We stayed in and played games in the restaurant and played pool downstairs this was lovely. Like proper down time.

The food was surprisingly good, although tbh, I booked based on that. My partner is vegan, and I told them before arriving. We loved that they really personalised his vegan menu and gave him some yummy options. From the option of 3 mains to the vegan butter it was scrumptious. The only issue we had, was that we had to tell them pretty immediately if we wanted to have lunch or dinner. And it was rather urgent, they would ask like an hour after breakfast if we were going to have lunch that day. Now, this is not a critique as we surmised it had to be due to meal prepping his vegan meals. Either way, we loved the food. Breakfast was cute, there were options between the regular English breakfast or eggs on toast,
Avo on sourdough and more. I will say it was pricey for what it was, like london prices. I had a 3 course lunch at lucky cat, Gordon Ramsey’s place last week and it was £33 here a three course was £37.48 I think, and for a two course like £29. But then again, we didn’t mind as I guess this goes to the refurbishment of the hotel.

The drive there from Lpndon was fine until we hit the dreaded bloody Venn lane, guys!! Prepare yourselves 😂😂. We died and came to many a times through that pathway of hell. Naa, does make arriving at SL that much sweeter.
