James Drewe's Taiji & Qigong classes - at the New Ash Green Village Hall - are that wonderful and rare blend of a lifetime's detailed knowledge taught seriously, but with good humour. In a nutshell, we have fun learning and we learn a lot.
In every class, James observes each person, gently ensuring that they know how to take their next step forward. Sometimes a move seems impossible ('Maiden Weaves Her Shuttle' to 'Needle at Sea Bottom'...I'm looking at you!) but, with patient guidance from James, it eventually flows into place.
I have been a Taiji & Qiqong student of James for 6 or 7 years. I know that I have only scratched the surface of the subject. I also know that James will help me to explore the many layers beneath that surface. It has been, is, and will be a fascinating and fulfilling journey. I look forward to it!

I joined the class almost 2 years ago, after having two knee replacements. Wanting to ease into a form of exercise, this has been ideal. The class is of mixed ability and is welcoming to all. James is really informative about the wider benefits of Thai Chi and has infinite patience, and a ready smile.

I have been learning tai chi and qigong with James for almost two years and have always found his teaching to be clear and easy to follow.
There is a good balance of tai chi and qigong and classes are interesting. James shares his incredible knowledge about all things tai chi and beyond, covering related subjects such as acupuncture pressure points, anatomy, posture, and the martial application of tai chi steps.
If that sounds complicated, it really isn’t. The pace of the lessons is measured and James is always happy to repeat instructions and offer help whenever necessary. The group is friendly and welcoming. I feel very fortunate that I decided to try it out.

As well as being very helpful, the classes are fun. We have many laughs. I've also learned a lot which is relevent in every day life: how to transition my weight as I move, which improves my balance; how to stretch muscles gently to avoid sprains. I am 73 and now I feel more confident than I did before I started classes.

I have been attending a beginners class in Longfield since January. Really enjoy the classes. They are fun and very friendly. Always have a laugh each week. James is an excellent teacher. Since starting the classes I have also noticed that my lower back pain issues have improved. I would certainly recommend giving it a go.
