Coming to College might not necessarily mean that you are going to be out of pocket. A range of financial assistance may be available throughout your studies.

If you are on a low income or are dependent on parents who are on a low income, the College can help you with the costs of attending College. The kind of assistance available to you will depend on your age and the type of course you are studying.

I'd tried Ashton Sixth Form and Clarendon before I went to Tameside. At Ashton, the tutors harassed students so much we stopped attending tutorials out of sheer anxiety. Then we got harassed for not attending tutorial when they could see we were attending our classes, so much so that some of us starting skipping them too. At Clarendon, our RS teacher was sacked and they got a temp in, who was giving me A's left right and centre until the real exams came and the entire class struggled to get above a D. Almost ruined my education, until I started my Access Course at Tameside. Josie, Naomi and Stephen were absolutely *incredible*. And the friendly environment created close friendships I still maintain today, years later. With their help and top-tier teaching, I aced my grades on a course that frankly prepares you much better for University than A-Levels do, and I'm now in my final year at the University of York and about to graduate in a few months - if it was down to the other local colleges, I wouldn't have gotten here! A huge, huge thank you to them ❤️

Awful organisation, one has to only see reviews on websites ie, Indeed, Glassdoor etc etc to see this.

I'm sure teaching/support staff on the ground level are on the whole good people who care about their jobs and the students, only to be let down by those higher up.

Everything about this organisation is so underhanded and dodgy, with the main goal of those at the very top is simple, to attract and retain as many students as possible solely for funding (ANY and every means possible) and to win OFSTED over on their "road to outstanding'

The way senior/line management treat staff is shocking and deserves no pretence or fake loyalty. When students are on courses they are not capable of passing or when they are not streamlined correctly, all for the benefit of gaining more funding, creates a hideous situation for teaching and support staff (To quote one senior manager "Just king pass em". The bullying and pressure these folk deal with should not be allowed today. Unfortunately when HR have a great experience of tribunals, not much can be done.

It is such a shame, teachers are fantastic but when students are not provided consistent classrooms or staff what does it matter. I wouldn't send any child of mine here that's for sure. Education should be about learning, development and success. The only thing senior management love more than themselves is funding and statistics.

This college helped me achieve higher education. Not everyone has the same experience of school or calm enough living situations for optimal educational progression as a youth. This college rebuilt me when I'd given up on myself and my ability to be academic.
The staff are supportive, the facilities are good, the other students mostly want to be there learning and my education was the best experience. I've got a degree now (bit of very expensive paper!) but more importantly I exceeded my own expectations.

The college has had some massive improvements made over the past few years.
The engineering and recently finished construction building have all the latest equipment.
The grounds have ample parking.
Well worth a visit.

I have just finished college for good after 7 years and I have some good memories from this college and some bad.

A few things I would recommend are that if you do decide to go to this college then take your own laptop as the college equipment is quite old and slow and you will just end up waiting 10 - 20 minutes for a computer to load up also take a pencil case as most of the pencils aren't very good and its usually very difficult to find a rubber or a sharpener.

A good thing about the college is most of the tutors will have a laugh with you and joke about once you get to know them and they will try to help you out with what ever is wrong be that college related or not at first they weren't very organized as a college but over the years they have been improving.

Most of the reviews I've seen complain about tutors not giving you respect but what I've learned over the years is its the students who mess about or who don't show up on time they do this to if you act like a mature adult and do your work then you will have no problem you can still chat to friends in class just don't go over the top and start messing about because then you will get told off.

You may be thinking that in your first or second year you are feeling depressed or lonely but don't worry we all felt that way it will pass.
