I have found the staff at the building block amazing, they are all very approachable and have offered support in every way. So far I have completed tiling and plastering courses as well as learning carpentry and plumbing skills. I have been diagnosed with complex PTSD - the staff are so understanding and helpful, putting me at ease, which boosts my confidence and gets the very best out of me without any judgement. This is such a friendly and fun place to learn regardless of ability. I cannot recommend The Building Block enough!

A great facility, a great course, superb instructors and friendly support staff.
Each module was extensively covered over the five days. It's a very hands-on practical course, it was a fantastic opportunity for me to practice the skills required safely, before I start on my own home renovation project.
The volunteer instructors' willingly shared their knowledge and experience with us and gave us tips and tricks to make each job a little easier for us to pick-up.
And everything they do is to help others and support good causes.

I completed a 4 day plastering course earlier in the year and wanted to leave a review as it has helped me an unbelievable amount whilst renovating my house. Jason the tutor was fantastic, very funny, very patient and a brilliant teacher. With helpers on each day it and 7 other people on the course there was plenty of 1 on 1 tutoring time with different techniques, surfaces and tips. Granted I'm not as fast as a professional plastered however I have done full rooms, ceilings, window reveals and they all look perfect! So a big thanks to the team at BB for hosting the course, providing great tutors and the venue is amazing.

The Building Block has a wonderful set-up with fantastic instructors who were so informative and knowledgeable in their subject matter. Pete, who was overseeing the plumbing course this week, was patient, encouraging, and very supportive to all 3 students on the course. He made the content enjoyable and fun, whilst remaining professional at all times. I will definitely be looking at future courses that the Building Block run and would not hesitate in recommending you.

The Multi Skills course attended was brilliant. Learning the basics of each skill in a day gives a great insight into how to start and what to do. It’s a fantastic confidence builder to encourage to have a go yourself and at the same time gives the opportunity to enrol on a more intense course whether it be an evening course or 5 days in one skill that you have enjoyed. The teachers were brilliant very patient, helpful and answered all questions asked and the building block facility is amazing. I look forward to booking onto another course soon.

Top-notch. Attended the 5 day intensive bricklayers course & couldn’t fault. There were sadly only 2 on the course but our progression was remarkable. Our instructor Paul was great, passing on his vast experience & knowledge.
Having zero experience at laying bricks, by day 5 we had both completed a cavity wall with an arch! What a great confidence builder.
They offer ample free parking along with brews & dunkers plus occasional B’day buns.
I’ve attended other provider’s facilities & they’re not as good as here. This place is relaxed, offers a whole host of courses, is great value for money & is community based….what more could you ask for?
I’ll be back to try the plastering, thanks again.

Did the Domestic Electrical Installer course with Pete. He's a really knowledgeable and patient teacher. I would recommend this course if you've got a reasonable entry level understanding of electrical systems. Please understand though it can be an intense course in places and requires a full commitment to doing the work both in and outside of the classroom. Overall though really useful and great facilities.

I attended the Introduction to Plumbing course earlier this week. Very impressed with the very professional set-up of the building. Pete is a great tutor: very patient and laid-back and extremely knowledgeable. Highly recommended. I will be back!
